A regular contributor to the finest dance music imprints of the underground scene, Simos Tagias makes a welcome debut on Meanwhile with his 'Euphoria' EP.

Bursting onto the scene in late 2012 and early 2013 with a clutch of releases on Modu and Lynx Records, Simos Tagias has overseen a career path with a steady upwards trajectory that has since seen some 400 production credits to his name. Indeed, Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music have all played regular host to the Greek artist’s work, not to mention successful releases on Cid Inc.’s Replug and Aly & Fila’s hugely successful FSOE.

Now opening his account on GMJ & Matter’s ever-growing Meanwhile, 'Euphoria' immediately impresses as a collage of elements fly across the sonic spectrum while a clicking ambient effect and grooved percussion provide dance floor character. Building in effervescent fashion, reversed synth motifs vie with delicately delayed phrases as a plethora of spot effects swim enticingly around the listener’s head. Winding up after a dizzying breakdown, the third movement carefully combines all the elements introduced in the earlier stages through a mind-melting melange of frequencies that pitches and falls in an innovative wall of sound Phil Spector would be proud of.

'Emotion' is a high-octane offering powering forward with chest-thumping kick and immaculately syncopated percussive groove. White noise infused synth motifs soon fill the sonic spectrum as a rapid-fire 16th note bassline carries the melodic elements with ease. Full of emotion and beautifully flowing synth lines, the track reaches its musical zenith at the breakdown before hitting its stride in the second half where all elements converge in lay lines of raw power and emotion.

The multi-talented DJ, producer, and vocalist John Graham, more commonly known as Quivver, makes a speedy return, following his recent chart topping One Darker EP (BEDDIGI141), with the meticulously crafted four tracker Ten Bob EP, celebrating some his finest engineering feats of more recent times.

Graham, with a career spanning over 25 years, remains a true industry icon. The man who spent five years in DJ Mags Top 100, has mastered the art of keep relevant in todays fiercely contended modern music scene, and is still regarded by many as one world's finest electronic music producers.

His career boasts a glittering rap sheet of achievements, including licensing deals with TV shows and top-selling video games, in addition to touring the globe multiple times each year, as the indomitable Quivver. All whilst releasing some of dance musics most timeless classics, throughout his various monikers.

His latest self-produced, mixed and mastered cuts on Ten Bob EP have remained an integral part of label boss, John Digweed's sets throughout the summer.

Opening with the stunning Im Bob, energetic creativity, sublime, subtle synth action and acidic overtones provide a satisfying fizz.

As with all the finest Quivver productions, both innovation and enjoyment flow equally freely throughout. Ten serves as further proof that the legendary producer didnt earn his iconic status by chance. Here goes above to beyond, suppling three different mixes that cause damage in equal measures.

The Club Mix, a distinctive, low-slung hip-swinging stomp, simmering with superbly restrained bubbling energy, that sparks and subsides in a masterful extended arrangement.

In its more compact Original Mix, the track is revealed to have started life as a bottom heavy breaks infused beast, which unleashes an utterly mesmerizing energetic flow. As always, Quivvers precise programming and trademark attention to the finest detail, remains firmly on display.

The closing Radio Edit offers an even more superbly concise ball of inspired breaks innovation.

In recent months, Quivver has been extensively touring in Russia, Mexico, USA, China and Japan. Recent releases on Anjunadeep, Bedrock plus his own Controlled Substance imprint, have also been extremely well received by bot the DJ elite and fans alike.

2019 is undoubtedly proving to be another very significant year for Quivver with his tour . 'Ten Bob EP' serves as another reminder of that.

Cid Inc's Replug Records ushers in the summer season by welcoming Kamilo Sanclemente and David Barragan to the label for their debut EP. The former, long regarded as one of Colombia's premiere progressive house talents has found a home on Balance Music, Beat Boutique and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, while earning continued support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J. The latter, also hailing from Colombia and perhaps better known to progressive music fans as Dabeat, has adopted his given name for this distinguished project. Much like Kamilo, David has showcased his music on a wide assortment of the underground's premiere imprints, most notably Beatfreak Recordings, Hope Recordings and Proton Music. As frequent studio partners in the past, Kamilo and David now debut on Replug with 'Time Writer'. 

Drawing on a variety of fresh designs and sleek rhythmic concepts the EP begins with its title and showcase piece 'Time Writer'. On a backbone of warm beats comes smooth contoured bass and a lively percussive cadence. Subtle yet stirring, an atmospheric glow encases the framework, as gentle arps and effervescent effects converge in a perfect sonic marriage. The narrative shifts as the breakdown commences with a buzzing lead line set atop a redolent backdrop. Trance inducing and hugely poignant, its euphoric nature sets the course towards a musically enlightened finale. 

The companion piece 'Relive' continues the trance inspired themes of its predecessor.  From its full, wonky groove comes spacey effects and hypnotic arps. Ghostly vocals and placid atmospheres build an emotive resonance across the first movement, perfectly segueing into an expansive centrepiece. A realm within the story, the break melts down to a stunning display of reflective melodies, free flowing in nature and elevating the mood before playing out over a colourful final act.

Having recorded more than thirty productions since the inception of their partnership, the creative synergy between Kamilo and David continues to grow. Their Replug debut sees a further evolution in their collaborative journey, with two creations that once again find them at the forefront of the progressive movement.

Alex's Meanwhile remixes of GMJ & Matter’s 'Gauntlet' were a notable highlight alongside a stellar 2020 and now with his inimitable style and flair, his remix of 'The Path' builds on the deep undulating groove of the original while building a new bassline component that bristles with intent, emotion and dancefloor prowess. Using the central arpeggiated motif of the track, richly textured pads provide new melodic direction as white-noise washes crash against the rhythmic bedrock in pulsating waves. The resultant interpretation finds O’Rion at his consummate best with a flawless mix of technique and precision.

Hailing from a long line of talented Dutch producers, Alex O’Rion is one of the brightest stars to recently emerge on Hernan Cattaneo’s SUDBEAT label. He started to experiment with music at 14 yrs old, inspired by Sasha, Nick Warren and John Digweed. Although his first appearance was in the trance scene, Alex soon found out that deep progressive music was his passion.

With 150 releases on beatport on labels such as Sudbeat, Hope, and Cid Inc's Replug, he has seen support from Hernán Cattáneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, and Quivver, amongst many others.

Melbourne’s GMJ (Gavin Martin) and Matter (Matty Doyle) joined forces in late 2015, a triggered recognition and magnetism for their shared perspectives and love for deep atmospheric music leading to the formation of the GMJ & Matter collaboration. With an acclaimed 'Superposition' EP for Proton followed by Osmosis / 11 Moons & Interscrope EPs in 2018, the two have produced remixes for Pete K, Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis, Nopi, Donny Carr, DJ San & Rudy UK, & fellow Aussies Funkform, Pantheon and David Leckenby.

John Graham, aka Quivver, is a renowned hitmaker and five-time DJ Mag Top 100 artist. Known for his genre-defying style, he continues to inspire new generations of ravers, artists, and DJs alongside his loyal fanbase.

Recognized as one of the world’s top electronic music producers, his 2022 album Revelate on John Digweed's Bedrock Records showcased his multi-genre mastery and earned multiple Beatport number ones.
