Sometimes I am just noodling with my guitar and start to record everything I am doing. I record in the simplest of ways. I put my in-ear headphones in my acoustic guitar and record on my phone. Easy as that. The microphone in the headset picks up all the nice warm sounds and resonance from within the inside of the guitar body. Essentially it is a really pure way of recording. This song consist of a very simple and repetitive acoustic guitar piece I came up with (like a year ago or something like that) but I didn’t have a real purpose for it. Until now. As you can clearly hear I have put some reverb on the guitar part (hence the long lasting sliding sounds throughout the song), a piano, some strings and voices. The ambient sound in the background is also a acoustic guitar with a lot of reverb and in a slower tempo. It is a melancholic sounding but relax song. I don’t like the cold winter and ‘short’ dark days where I live. I highly prefer spring and summer. That’s one of the reasons I like to travel and visit the warmer parts of the world. I love tropical climates. So I am glad the shortest day of the year has passed. Instead of making an anti-winter song I am celebrating the solstice which marks the start of longer days, more light and warmer weather. I felt like posting this after yesterday’s Christmas Eve (which was a very special one for me) and because of the link between the winter solstice and Christmas. I initially wanted to name this song ‘ann-thennath’ because I am reading Lord of the Rings (for the first time) but I thought that sounded to ‘nerdy’ and even pretentious in a way. I still like the word so maybe I will find another way to put it in use. Anyway; here’s my addition for a kind of non-traditional Christmas song.
