Sleepless | Deep Trance Playlist

I have always loved long progressive tracks from the likes of BT, Sunday Club and Sasha who've have made tracks well over 10 minutes. You don't hear that much anymore and I was wondering why is that..? I ended up thinking that it's the 2014 EDM culture which has made DJs so visible stage performers that (at least in DJs' heads) there is a need to do something actively when playing and that has lead into two minute quick mixing and sets loaded with mashups. 

Don't get me wrong: I understand that in a big room/festival setting that works very well, but I also believe that many people still enjoy longer progressions and tracks with many parts flowing seamlessly from one to another. I wanted to try to make a track like that: epic intro, deep & groovy build up part, emotive breakdown, driving D part, uplifting peak moment and percussion driven outdo. Hope you like it :)

Orkidea’s last single venture, the purer-than-pure ‘Purity’, stoked floor fires bright throughout the autumn. Drawing substantial deck & radio show rotation from Armin van Buuren and multitude of other tier-1 DJs, press-side it was hailed is as “a real treat!” with Tilllate scoring it a red-hot 9.5/10. The UK’s DJ Mag meanwhile described it as having a “doomy dash of ‘Bladerunner’ with several tablespoons of ‘Oxygène’ about it”. For his next release, the flying Fin, delves even deeper into the latter’s sonic gene pool, with a stunning retro-futuristic revision from the Jean-Michel Jarre universe. 

He’s taken the legendary composer’s 1988 classic ‘Revolution Industrielle’ and, bringing all his accrued production knowledge to bear, repurposed it for 21st century clubbers.
Orkidea brilliantly, assuredly recasts JMJ’s ‘Revolution Industrielle’ as a deep-into-the-night club floor titan, utilizing masterful chord transposal and emotion-spiking Roland D-50 synths to retain the original’s soundscape feel & drama. 
A release with one foot in the past… and the other most firmly in the future, to quote ‘Revolution Industrielle’ itself, it’s “today, tomorrow… forever”.

After his stunning collaboration with Lowland, Glowing Skies, Finnish trance wonder Orkidea treats us to 3 Extended Mixes of the critically acclaimed Harmonia album. On first track Neo Romance, the Heaven Scent trace of melodic uplift kinetically meets Ben Lord’s tones and Future Sound Of London-styled FX. Then with p:Machinery, Orkidea realigns avant-garde group Propaganda’s mid-80s synth-pop classic with modern day floors. Building it up and out with the driving, tech style of Pryda and the peak time prog hooky-ness of Anjunadeep, he gives it a radically inventive update. The EP ends with My Sunset, Orkidea’s cover of Chris Coco’s indolent chillout classic. Introducing notes and elements from Berlin’s neo trance sound, it transforms its ambience into a deeply galactic, prog-oriented number.

beGun from Barcelona lands in Sincopat putting the focus on the Kiribati islands (Pacific Ocean) as the next destination in this particular electronic music journey. This new work presents two tracks whose names, Kuria and Vostok, correspond to the two most remote capitals of the insular complex and also two of the places that are suffering the most from global warming, and may disappear in the coming decades because of the continuous rise in sea level. In the words of the same producer:

"The goal of aiming at that inhospitable place to a musical level is to be able to contribute my part in the awareness of the effects of climate change, because it would be very unfortunate that in 10 years those two songs are still there while the two towns who gave their names have disappeared from the map”.

With this EP, beGun broadens its own musical spectrum without neglecting its recognized and unique creative personality: always elegant, landscaping and porous in the face of ethnic references through the use of local folk instruments combined with complex rhythms, penetrating basses and atmospheres charged of melancholia. For the remixes, AFFKT gives his own vision of Kuria giving it more musicality with thicker and live synths. For the part we welcome the duo Brigado Crew, who offers a more massive Deep House remix but with a breakdown clearly emotional and vibrant.

The Lithuanian producer Kastis Torrau signed to Last Night On Earth and Visceral from the small pinch to mention comes up with our Mexican brother Betoko (Diynamic, Einmusika, KATERMUKKE) to deliver 'Raketa' - the bass-density track, which is looping you into the vibe with its crazy electric sounds from its first seconds till the last ones.
