‘Death Stroke’ is a powerful example of bass music with substance and meaning, immediately establishing its tangible world of sound and setting the stage for the journey that’s about to ensue. We begin with a smooth, laid-back lounge atmosphere, evoking a sense of melancholy and longing that one would experience during a solo late night drive through a city. Subtle synth melodies arise and dissipate, almost echoing the effect that sirens would have as they travel through the caliginous night air, enhancing the feeling of desolation in one’s being. The song gradually builds, eventually morphing into a dark masterpiece with some of the most delicious, aggressive growls around.
