strange - a component toward the bass frequencies is missing on headphones (mac/pc soundcloud, and native). 'normalized' coming out of ableton live.

finally shifted the 'pumper' under pattern several db higher, to examine.
My expectation was that this under track would pump and boost the effect, in this Case, Valhalla Uber. The 'dispersion' of audio should demonstrate a persistent over cast of noise from the energy of the content underneath. My adjustment of pumper level exposed the underlying element which was obscured in the original upload, although the changes of dispersion noise were still apparent.

one element of this track is formed with monophonic audio from a Moog Sub-37 using "trill pickles preset" 7-10. The second element uses the midi from the Sub-37 to drive Izotope Iris using the preset "Glass Flippers". the levels of the two tracks were matched to mask their seperate sources.

melody line was improvised in one pass.

there are five component lines in this remix of the samples below. working in Ableton Live.
two of them are instances Izotope Iris 2 with the a portion train sample selected and modified to slow the attack and extend the tail of the sample. A short midi phrase was improvised, then inverted and doubled. one instance is 2x the first and they play looped against each other varying the pattern heard. a formant filter was used in the Iris app to emphasize the whistle variations. the result is passed through a compressor.

one track is the Fog Horn passing through 'Zebrify' a versions of U-He Zebra midi instrument available as an audio filter. Starting from the preset "thick wire" I listened to a loop of the sample and modified the preset to make self oscillation related to the level in the sample. this plays in the background of the mix at a slow level.
one track is a resampled instance of this effect at a boosted level stretched over the length of composition and mixed in and out with level changes in other tracks.

Disquiet Junto Project 0254: Fog and Steam
Make music from two provided samples.

For the 254th weekly project, we’re going to revisit the second project, from back in early January 2012.

Step 1: Download these two samples:

Step 2: Create an original piece of music utilizing just those samples from Step 1. You can only use those two samples, and you can do whatever you want with them.

Five More Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Per the instructions below, be sure to include the project tag “disquiet0254” (no spaces) in the name of your track. If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to my locating the tracks and creating a playlist of them.

Step 2: Upload your track. It is helpful but not essential that you use SoundCloud to host your track.

Step 3: In the following discussion thread at llllllll.co please consider posting your track. (Assuming you post it on SoundCloud, a search for the tag will help me construct the playlist.)
