Haus of Slopulence are the messy drag collective built for Field Maneuvers: raving it up all weekend, then slipping their portmanteau into a heel to carry on the madness as front-of-house dancers extraordinaire.

It continues FM’s long-standing affiliation with East London (see dearly departed Dance Tunnel and still proud mothership Dalston Superstore) and provides the launchpad for J.Aria, who records our latest podcast. 

When not getting slopulent, Jacob, to flesh out the J, is a producer and soundtrack composer - and DJs at Adonis, Dalston Superstore, Heaven and the queer-beyond (with their parties playing host to Object Blue, Loraine James, Spinee and more). Their eclectic Threads Radio show flips between rave-heavy electronica and ‘modern-classical, noise and experimental for you honeys’. 

For this mix, however, it’s straight to the dancefloor and this one has a runaway. Percussive house pumpers rub shoulders with bouncy, continuum-inflected club cuts, trippy techno with bassline wobblers. 

It’s peak NRG, marinated in the sweaty experience of someone who’s been on FM’s main stage as much as any DJ. So if you’re missing your dose of final-night festival delirium, simply get some choice mates, stay awake for three days, then slap this on loud.

In her hometown of Brisbane, she is a DJ known for a diverse selection of dance music that is always engaging and highly interesting. For this mix, she has chosen a more reflective mood in line with the pressing times we’re all in.

Sarah Farina is a DJ, producer, and activist based in Berlin. Pioneering her own style called “Rainbow Bass,” Sarah is known for moving quickly between genres and tempos the same way that she views her ideal club: diverse, accessible, and open to everyone. 

Sarah hosts her own club night, “Rec Room,” and runs the project “Transmission” with Kerstin Meißner, which highlights the politics and histories of our dancefloors and scenes. Sarah has also hosted DJ workshops all over the world, including in Rwanda, Uganda, Egypt, and Detroit. 

In this fifth episode of Dialogues, we sat down with Sarah to talk about some of the important questions that none/such asks itself and asks of our scenes. We talk about everything from genre, to activism, to drug use, and much more! This is an important one that you don’t want to miss!

Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the artform. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles.

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.
