Indian Summer

A small comparison of a Big String Patch of the Ob-6 with the internal Chorus vs. Roland Juno 60 Patch. In the latter I put Saw and Square Wave plus the Sub-Oscillator with little LFO and little Band Pass Filter. The Low Pass Filter is almost full open, the resonance O. The Chorus is switched on I. In the OB I tried to do the same adjustments.

OB - 6 Vs Prophet - 6 Warm Pad

Here is my first Multitrack Demo of the OB-6. It is 100 Percent OB-6, inclusive the drum tracks, I programmed on the OB-6. There are no external effects nor Plug-Ins. All is recorded with Apogee ensemble pure. Enjoy it.

Comparison OB-8 vs. OB-6 with a Choir Pad. The Pad is a Mix of a Triangle and a Square Wave with Low Pass Filter, full resonance and a almost half open filter with wide envelopes (attack an release long in both envelopes).
In the OB-6 I used a LFO with a Sine-Wave to VCO2 and a high frequency. There are no effects on both synths. Also no internal FX in the OB-6.

Eine kleine Abschiedssequenz meines geliebten Juno-60, den ich leider abgeben musste. Arpeggio ist eine Pulswelle mit etwa PMW und etwas Resonanz mit wenig offenen Filter.

Der Stringsound besteht aus Sägezahn, Pulswelle, Suboszillator und Chorus 2 mit relativ viel Release Phase und halboffenen Low-Passfilter mit wenig Resonanz.

Aufgenommen mit Apogee Symphony über Logic Pro X ohne jegliche Nachbearbeitung und Effekte.

Roland Juno 60 kurze Sequenz

Eine weitere kurze Sequenz meines neuen Juno 60, der gegenüber dem alten viel weicher klingt. Für Bässe schlechter, aber dafür bei Flächen eindeutig besser. Jedes der Geräte ist eben ein Unikat.

Another short Sequence of my new Juno 60, which sounds much softer compared with my old one. For Basses its worse but for pads its much better. Each instrument of the Junos is unique.

My First quick check of the VP-330, just played around a little bit and recorded it. I will soon post more Demos in higher quality. It ist really a great machine with a magnificent sound. It has nothing to do with the new VP-03

Roland VP-330 First Test

A short Multitrack Demo with the Juno 60. All Sounds are from the Juno, even the Drums. I used only a bit reverb from Strymon Big Sky for some Pad Sounds. No equalizer, limiter, compressor etc.

Live Improvisation with MFB Tanzbär, DSI Prophet 6 for Subbass, Sequential Prophet VS für Pad, Solina für Strings, OB-6 for Bass Arpeggio. 
Everything is played live without overdubbing and no FX. Only the Solina had a Electro Harmonix Small Stone.

I tried to compare the same settings. The Prophet-6 is mono and bypassed the FX-Section. First example ist he Prophet-6, second the Prophet-5

In all examples there is no additional mastering, eq or fx.

Roland Gear life played and improvised. The TR-808 triggers the Juno-60 and the JP-8, the VP played some nice synthetic choir and string pads.
No FX and Mastering, just played life and multitrack.

Roland D-50 Ambient Textures and Atmospheres Part 2

Demo of the Roland SDE-Delay on a Roland Juno 60. All tracks are recorded live improvised without additional effects, mastering and equalizer. The Juno Mono into the SDE, one mixed output and one delayed output directly into apogee symphony.

I sampled here a Roland Jupiter 8 typical classic string sound with the Ensoniq ESP 16 plus.
First you hear the original JP-8 patch, without any FX, then you hear the Sample on the ESP 16 with a bit modulation of the Oscillators with slightly detuning to achieve an analog feel, I also added the internal reverb of the ESP. In the third example it is the same Sample but also with demonstration the internal low pass analog filter from philips.
I think you can do some more out of this sample, I did not loop at all.

Roland Jupiter 8 Strings sampled on Ensoniq EPS 16 plus

Custom Patch with waveforms from the Vintage Synth Expansion Card JV80-04 programmed on the Roland Super JD-990 Synthesizer from 1993. It is supposed to be one of the best Roland Digital Synths ever, better than the Roland JD-800 and the JV-Series.
The JD-990 is a very powerful Synthesizer. The Patch is consisting of 4 Waveforms/Tones. I didn't use any external effects, limiter, compressor, equalizer and anything else. This Patch inspired by Chariots of Fire (Vangelis), originally a Yamaha CS-80 horn/pad.

CS - 80 Inspired Roland JD - 990 Pad

A Demo of Analog Synth emulations on the Roland JV-880. There are typical 70ies and 80ies Sounds, Bass, Brass, Leads, Pads, Strings, Sequences, Choirs etc. The sounds are reminiscences from Moog, Mellotron, Solina, Prophet, Oberheim, Jupiter, CS-80, VP-330 etc.

I used the JV-80 Expansion Board 04, Vintage Keys. Most of the sounds use the PCMs from that board. 

Of my opinion the JV-80 sounds real mind blowing. I find it better than the later models, like JV-1080, 2080 etc. It is in the sound range of the legendary JD-990, which I also have. Please convince yourself of it. Have fun listening and I hope, you enjoy.

In Andenken an meinen langjährigen Mitmusiker und Freund Ralf, von dem wir am 2. Februar 2019 Abschied nehmen mussten. 

Ralf, Du bist leider viel zu früh gegangen. Du reißt eine riesen Lücke, es gibt so viele Menschen, Die Dich immer in ihrem Herzen bewahren werden. Du warst der kreative Kopf unserer Band „Eat This“. 

Dieses Lied ist eines Deiner Kompositionen. Es ist zwar ein Liebeslied, die Worte gelten aber auch Dir. Die Zeile „Es gibt nur die Erklärung, du musst ein Engel sein“ trifft auf Dich zu. Es tut mir leid, dass wir aufgrund unterschiedlicher Erwartungen in der Band getrennte Wege gegangen sind, dennoch hat dies nie etwas daran geändert, dass Du für uns alle ein sehr wertvoller Mensch und Freund warst, der uns sehr viel gegeben hat und immer in schöner Erinnerung bleiben wird. Schade, dass ich Dir das nie so sagen konnte... .

Engel - Eat This (featuring Ralf, im Memorian)

This track is made with all three trigger outs of the TR-808 into the SH-101 sequencer, the JUNO-60 arpgegiator and the Jupiter-8 CF-in to sequence the filter of a Pad Sound. The SH-101 runs through a Korg Digital delay of the Korg DW-8000 E, the BOSS CE-2w Chorus and Strymon Big Sky Reverb.

Life tweaking using the arpeggiator of the JP-4 triggered by the TR-808 and accompanied by the VP-330.

The JP4 and TR-808 are raw recorded without any FX. The VP-330 has some reverb from the GFI Specular Reverb. No additional mastering, just recorded life into the audio interface.

Roland TR-808 triggers my Jupiter 6 with two arpeggiated sounds in split mode, the SH-101 and the JUNO-60. I used the delay from Korg DW-8000 for my JP-6 and reverb pedal GFI specular for my SH-101. The SH-101 is modded by Tubuttec, so I could play different sequences for each single basic tone. The JUNO-60 (only chorus 1 activated) and TR-808 are clean with no FX and processing.
