1080p effectively skipped the ageing process and matured into a fine ole vintage immediately. It would be a little unfair to the rest, if we weren't so consistently blessed with beautiful, beatific jams.  I Want To Believe, a fresh cassette from Montreal-via-Vancouver fresh face Project Pablo, doesn't come anywhere near close to breaking the spell.

"Follow it Up" exhibits that same care and warmth that has fast become an indelible 1080p trademark. The jaunty track practically mewls with contentment, with gentle piano stabs, skippy drum beat and flecks of jazz in the percussion combining to something instantly familiar, perhaps played at a 1.25x pace. Throw it on and shake off the holiday gluttony.

It started with “deep, raw and real”, then it was “thank you freaks”, now it’s “gentlemen cuts” – all well rounded lovely compialtions bringing some hot tunes from all over the globe! With Clang83, we have another up and coming italian artist who’s into this kinda classic house and detroit sound. Go Rudy go! Heading to Mexico, it’s our homeboy 4004 (Soul of Hex, Sebastien Vorhaus & 4004) delivering the goods. Just as delicious as tacos! Next is a new project from an established artist: it’s the first ever release from Standard Model, who’s in fact The Legendary 1979 Orchestra. Superb tune! Last but not lewast we are heading to Finland and taking a relaxing finish for this EP with hotshot Saine (Voyage, Pusic, Sleazy Beat). Can’t find a better tune to finish a splendid night. To be continued!

Rhythm Section International proudly presents it’s 8th offering from local boys Chaos In The CBD. Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years (literally just around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the scene here in London town and with their latest set of productions are set to take this message further afield. 

Having already released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London) and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo’s approach to production has matured immeasurably in the last year, as is evident in the restrained potency and poetic subtlety on the 4 tracks across this accomplished EP, Midnight in Peckham. 

Taking it’s title from the locale the boys have come to know as home, the record channels a delicate late night energy - equally indebted to the hypnotic incantations of Ron Trent as it is to the hazy suburban atmospheres of Burial. These 4 classic cuts pay homage to deep house in it’s truest sense - at once sublime, melancholy and meditative. Chaos In The CBD have clearly taken their cue from the mid-west masters of the genre but have not been afraid to let their own influences and environs creep in, and in doing so have created something that is unmistakably London and in fact, timeless.

Project Pablo - Evening Call (STW Premiere)

Who better to kick off the inaugural release of SOBO [Sounds Of Beaubien Ouest] than Patrick Holland, best known as Project Pablo. Affiliated with the Canadian Riviera's 1080p troupe, as well as Seb Wildblood's Church and Lone's Magicwire – Holland now adds Beaubien Dream as the fourth instalment to his 12" series. The Beaubien connection comes from Montreal's Rue Beaubien, of which Holland is a resident. SOBO is headed up by fellow longstanding citizens of the Beaubien Ouest hood, Arbutus Records and their extended family – of which Holland is an instrumental part.

An initial teaser of the EP's opening "Closer" was aired publicly during Holland's BR London set back in October, as well as his NTS appearance with Lone and Gabriola earlier this year. Now, after a patient seven-month wait, we can finally wrap our mitts around it in its entirety. Alongside its two subsequent components, the track acts as a homage to Holland's home. With its distinctive Dx7 melodies, jingly percussion provided by bells (of the cow variety amongst others) and an insatiable groove growing lazily throughout – "Closer" is instantaneous happiness.
