So Afraid to Show I Care sees Theo Alexander & Qow assume the role of gleaners and foragers, collecting fragments from over a year of collaboration to produce a palimpsest of sonic layers. Their 30-minute micro-epic is built on an ethic of bricolage, covering tape-recorded ambience, voice note instrumentals, warped acapellas and growling double basses, all of which play out in an uninterrupted narrative.

As unabashedly experimental as it is emotional, the album’s diverse landscape features Egyptian spoken word artist otteswed (formerly known as Aly Talibab) and improvising contrabassist Klára Pudláková. On the leading single, Addictive, Pudláková’s double bass, enters into a melodic dialogue with yearning vocal samples. Towards the end of the album, otteswed delivers an existential soliloquy above waves of organ chords performed by Theo Alexander who sampled church organs from Prague, London and Orford. This album brings together material from a string of high-profile premieres across Europe and the UK featuring a rotating cast of collaborators.

Along with the digital release of the album, comes a limited-edition double cassette tape that includes both the album and selected Live performances from CTM festival ‘25, and PAF festival ‘24 featuring George Cremaschi on Contrabass.

Theo Alexander (London, UK) and Qow (Cairo, Egypt) began working together in 2023, and have respectively been featured in NPR, The Quietus, The Wire, and supported by Shape+, Britten-Pears Arts, and others.

ألبوم طهي ببطء على مدى ثلاث سنوات وأربع إقامات إبداعية مزجت أساليب الموسيقيين الثلاثة بشكلٍ سلس، وشكلت صوتهم المشترك المتجانس. بدأ الثلاثي بتأليف الأغاني قبل كتابتها، ثم عثروا على لغتهم المشتركة في قصائد الشاعر المصري العامي ميدو زُهير،.

يأتي كل من مريم صالح وموريس لوقا وتامر أبو غزالة من خلفيات مختلفة مكرَّسة في الموسيقى العربية البديلة، لكن دروبهم استمرت بالتقاطع فعملوا إلى جوار بعضهم البعض مستقين من مصادر الإلهام ذاتها، كتقديمهم ترجمات مختلفة لموسيقى المهرجان المصرية. خلال السنوات الماضية، تنقَّل الموسيقيون سويةً بين استوديوهات تسجيل في القاهرة والاسكندرية وبيروت وعمان خلال رحلة بحث عن صوتهم المشترك، وجاءت النتيجة في الألبوم المشترك، الإخفاء.

انتجت الألبوم شركة مستقل بدعم من الصندوق العربي للثقافة والفنون (اّفاق)

Three musicians who came of age in 1990s Cairo, their disparate paths in music intersect a couple of decades later when they’re drawn to each other’s work, and agree to meet at a seaside cabin in Alexandria, followed by residencies in Amman, Cairo, and Beirut to create and record a new album.

Maryam Saleh, Maurice Louca and and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, names that have turned heads in alternative Arabic music with solo albums and conspicuous collaborations, with Lekhfa they give birth to an off kilter sound where layers of grit and beauty intertwine in and around the dystopian poems of their contemporary Mido Zoheir, whom they've dubbed the fourth member in this creation and one of the most talented Egyptian poets of their generation. 

The album is produced by Mostakell with the support of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC)

NGC 6302, also called the Bug Nebula, Butterfly Nebula, is a bipolar planetary nebula in the constellation Scorpius. The structure in the nebula is among the most complex ever observed in planetary nebulae. The spectrum of NGC 6302 shows that its central star is one of the hottest stars in the galaxy, with a surface temperature in excess of 250,000 degrees Celsius, implying that the star from which it formed must have been very large.
