Anthony Rother - Hacker

Originally formed in 2013 as a duo, Stockholm Syndrome (SXDNS165) has been a solo project for the last couple of years. Brett Wilson left, Iain Mac stayed, and the show has been going on and on without giving any signs that it will come to an end anytime soon. On the contrary, inasmuch as Iain has delivered a solid string of high-quality material for the last months, having appeared on vital imprints such as Death Decay Magic, Veneno, ESTHÉTIQUE, Paradise Palms, and NEIN, including being part of our Takeover released on the British powerhouse in March.

Owner of a characteristic sonority that combines Disco, Slo-Mo Techno, EBM, and Cold Wave with generous doses of Acid, Stockholm Syndrome is one of the biggest exponents of the Australian Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene. His forthcoming “241” EP on NEIN consolidates such status. Featuring two proper originals and three valuable remixes made with love by Brixx, Minor Circuit, and Did Virgo, the EP is mandatory for the fans of the dark side of music out there.

Premiered here, Did Virgo’s interpretation brings the theme to the dance floor. Explaining: The French producer spiced up things a little bit by going from 99 BPM to 112 BPM, hence increasing the danceability of “Ay See Eye Dee” (A-C-I-D, got it?). Of course that dancing at below 100 is definitely a great experience, but dinosaurs were famous for shaking their booties better at higher speeds back in the day. Anyway, with such a boost the acid line became even more evident, allowing Did to add his own touch without “hurting” the soul of the beautiful original in order to provide a less ominous and more upbeat version.

The Anjunadeep Edition 28 with Lane 8

Bari-based DJ/Producer Kaiser made his career debut on Etruria Beat back in 2013 with his track "Conversation", part of the Bud Sampler (Part 1). Today he presents his first full release for Etruria, "Medusa”. 

The two originals are lead by "Save the Chord", named after the presence of some overlapping dub-chords which intersect each other to create a melody on which a well balanced groove grows. Title track "Medusa" leads with an aggressive and imposing rhythm. Perfect for the most powerful of dancefloors! 

In addition, two remixes from highly respected artists of the European techno scene. DJ Emerson , Microfon Rec. owner and CLR artist, infects "Save the Chord" with his typical sound, coming up with a powerful kick and impetuous groove. Relentless. 

Finally Matthias Fridell supplies a dark-and-mean rework with scything organ pulses that deliver a Detroit touch.

The split EP ‘Transmitting Coordinates’ comprises the efforts of Uun, whose roots lay in Kansas (USA), and Argentina’s Vladw – the former a familiar face, the latter a newcomer to the label. While the physical distance between their home bases couldn’t have been much bigger, their visions of techno and the mature sound it results in in both their tracks, are about as close as it gets. The similarities in this piece of present-day techno go beyond repetitiveness: both artists exceed at the use of glitchy tops blended with tight low ends, and letting those evolve so gradually that it nearly goes unnoticed. It results in these four solid cuts that need nothing but their comprehensive grooves to stay fascinating. One can only hope that somewhere in the future, the work of Uun and Vladw will find its way to many more EP’s like these.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere  Reka's remix for “You Pt. 12” by SDH.  Their suggestive synth-pop songs sprinkled with EBM and techno are fertile ground for DJs all over the world to get the perfect sexy dance song everyone is waiting for in a party in a late night club. SDH and Reka met in Berlin in 2019 when SDH were touring supporting their self-titled album (Avant! Records, 2018) and the connection was instantaneous.

The song ‘You Pt.12’ originally appeared on Against Strong Thinking EP (Avant! Records, 2020), SDH’s follow-up to their first record, and it’s probably one of the songs the bests sums up their sound and style: somber, sexual, obtuse and mysterious.
