La primera parada es en Madrid, en la Calle Palma, número 39. El podcast 100.1 lo firma el gran Ideograma.

Ideograma también conocido como Dj F es una figura clave de la escena subterránea madrileña y de toda la península.

Destreza y conocimiento definen bien el trabajo tras los platos de este artista tan respetado y querido por tod@s. Muy influenciado por el sonido Detroit de los 90 en clave Techno, Electro o House y el IDM, Flavio ha sabido crear su propio universo musical, ofreciendo como Ideograma su versión más Techno y Electro, y como Dj F su faceta House, Soul, Funk y Breaks.

Este virtuosismo y bagaje musical le han hecho pasear su maleta por infinidad de salas, provocando el goce del personal. Y es fácil pillarlo girando discos casi cualquier finde.

Como productor, F no se queda atrás, tracks llenos de alma, donde se aprecian los matices de su extenso conocimiento musical y que no han pasado inadvertidos para sellos como Semántica, Titan’s Halo, Freebeat, Eleve, A Harmless Deed o Frigio Records. Ahí podréis encontrar trabajos suyos como Dj F, Ideograma o Acid Future Overdose.

En 2015, Flavio arranca su propio sello Prayers For The Long Life y ya lleva 5 referencias muy recomendables.

Además de todo esto Ideograma es conocido por ser uno de los dueños de la mítica tienda Palma 39, un espacio donde conviven 2 tiendas Recycled Music Center, del mismo F, e Industrias Mekanikas. Esta simbiosis hace que Palma 39 disponga de uno de los stocks más interesantes que te puedes encontrar, con cubetas cargadas de novedades que puntualmente reciben y con un old stock medalla de oro. Sin duda, tienda de visita obligada para todo buen amante del vinilo.

UEMA Series 100.1 by Ideograma

An archive episode for International Women's Month with the late, great Detroit producer.

For International Women's Month, we revisit K-HAND's Resident Advisor Exchange, originally published in November 2019. The "First Lady Of Detroit," as Detroit City Council deemed her in 2017, died in August 2021. The following text is from the original post. 

Kelli Hand used to be described as an unsung hero of Detroit house and techno but recently she's finally been getting her due. With a production career beginning in 1990, she has a sprawling discography packed with timeless releases for key labels like Warp, Tresor and her own Acacia Records. Over the years she's produced several hundred tracks, each bearing her distinctive knack for jack and a style marked by a timeless flavour of minimalism. 

In conversation with Matt Unicomb, we hear about how her perspective on releasing music and DJing has changed over the last three decades and her experiences of the ebb and flow of a life spent in dance music. Launching from formative experiences at Paradise Garage and the Music Box, Hand's story covers several vital eras of American dance music history, a lineage that feeds directly into the rare staying power of her productions.

Hailing from New Zealand; vinyl-focussed DJK has gained recognition in his own right as an established selector, capable of igniting dancefloors with his impeccable record box full of sultry disco-edits, rough-edged Detroit techno and deep house cuts.

Relentlessly compelled by a passion to deliver top quality sets, he is always seeking out the freshest sounds, whilst keeping one eye on the music that inspired him to begin with. Whether it’s an under the radar Ron Hardy gem, or a newly released heavy hitter from Robert Hood; as long as it has a special groove, it will catch his attention. 

As a Remotion resident, he has supported the likes of Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Krywald & Farrer, and Toy Tonics. During covid times he has been in demand with livestreams / mixes for Timeline Music, Club Sounds Live, Electric Lion radio and Bill Brewster’s 16 Loop show among others. His refreshing diversity in selections and effortless, intricate mixing skills; combined with the recent momentum he has gained, can only mean that there are bright things on DJK’s horizon.

Yax Invites #058 - DJK

Nummer is a Berlin based duo comprised of Silvere & Manu, two exiled french cats who started their project in London back in 2010. Releasing a string of records on Going Good, Butter Sessions and their own Nummer Music imprint. In 2018, the boys further broadened their reach with the launch of the Natural Selections label & night.
In their own words:
"We recorded this mix just before the return of our residency night 'Natural Selections' at Ohm, tracks that we had been putting aside especially for that occasion. Bringing together old school and new school prog house, some tunes found on random cd comps, some approximately ripped records and a few bargained soulseek steals. This mix is a glimpse into that moment in time."

"90% of this mix is made out of tracks produced (and/or released) by friends of ours (Benoit B, Sentiments, Geena, Deep Nalstrom, Telephones, FIO to name a few). A lot of these tracks are absolutely killer and don’t necessarily get all the attention they deserve so we thought this would be a great occasion to serve them up! We’ve also included a couple of our own recent studio experimentations and one track off our EP on Animals Dancing coming out later this year."

Nummer's music is characterised by a passion for obscurity and authenticity. This characterises the records the French pair endlessly dig for, as well as the studio full of custom built and second hand pieces of hardware they collect.  When used to make their own music, the results range from ambient soundscapes to jacking dance floor bangers via electro futurism. It comes on their Nummer Music as well as Going Good with slick stylistic variations that also define this mix for us. 

The live and DJ duo create a loose and gangly groove early on here and keep it up over the course of an infectious 80 minutes. There's flabby slow motion techno, wiggling electro funk and cosmic acid call upon along the way. What ties everything together so neatly are the atmospheres around the tracks, which are never less than mysterious and inquisitive, so buckle up and enjoy the trip.

TYREL WILLIAMS (Immortal Sin, Secret Studio / SF)

Tyrel (@tyrelwilliams) was a mainstay of Chicago’s underground scene for years. He began mixing records in 1999. Soon later he landed a job at Gramaphone Records, where he spent many years building his collection of vinyl. He spent 2007-2011 building his Acid Test residency at Smart Bar, which was an all vinyl dance party in Chicago. In 2009 he took a job working with Jeff Mills and helping with Axis Records. Tyrel moved to San Francisco in 2011 where he is now a resident DJ for Housepitality, Acid Test, and Fleurs Du Mal. In 2014 he started a project with Bryan Bai-ee called Secret Studio with releases on their own label, Secret Studio Records. His next venture is his new vinyl label with C.L.A.W.S. called Immortal Sin, with the two releases featuring I.B.M. on the first record and Bill Converse on the second.

This mix was recorded for Housepitalty back in May 2020. Tyrel was feeling his old deep house collection, so he wanted to tap into that and play some of his favorite deep house records.
