“Unwise Remix Series” has the involvement of artists which represent Synthek & Audiolouis main points of reference and inspiration, artists who acknowledged the potential of Unwise and accepted to get involved in a great re-edition of the principal cuts of the album. Tadeo inaugurates this first installment with an outstanding reinterpretation of “Thread Between Us”. Keeps the aggressive mood of the original, raising the impetus with slender hi-hats, haunting chords and devilish synthlines, all elements that clearly manifest the powerful imprint of the spanish producer. Aubrey concludes the first side with a sophisticated rework of “Broken Pad”: an unpredictable groove made of fluctuating bleeps and drums, embraced by spacey soundscapes strewn with sonic drills and fragments. Delivering the final blow on the flipside, Polar Inertia’s work can be seen more like a long journey, than an actual remix of Unwise, main track which gives the name to the album. The final 8-minutes-cut brings an extreme dose of deepness to the release, pervading it of a surreal atmosphere crossed by violent droning flashes, while from a dusty, heavily texturized basslines rises a thin but empowering beat, that finally embrace the distinctive (and desynchronized) riff from the original. A superlative gathering of styles and influences that leads Synthek & Audiolouis sound to a completely new level, giving the chance to re-study the Unwise album from different, refined perspectives.

"Allez les presales! Everybody’s favourite Parisian party fiends are back, polishing up another batch of patchy pound bin finds and not-on-Discogs delights for your next summer soirée. Putting their orange-eagle eyes to good use, the LYO crew have trawled the crates of Europe and beyond for this sunkissed set, working the scalpel to the max to pack the dancefloor in arms aloft ecstasy. 

Our party starts with the kwaito groove of “Avidio””, a killer bit of late 80’s Afro-action boasting synth marimba, alien bass blasts and life affirming vocal chants. Not only is this cut moving in the ants-in-your-pants/dancing-like-a-madman sense, but its Sting-on-safari emotion and clarinet solo could bring a tear to a glass eye.

Cartwheeling between aspirational jazz-funk and afro-cosmic, ‘Yanga Mbiwaa’ makes its way to the heart of the party like a bewildered Parisian at an Ivorian wedding. As tumbling toms rumble like thunder on the Serengeti, an oddball exotica chant encourages the nearby wildlife to shake a tail-feather to the Club Tropicana guitars and buzzing synthbass. 

At last you have something to keep Quantum Jump’s ‘Lone Ranger’ company! Last but not least comes ‘Autoradio’, a very well mannered monsieur living the French highlife by the sea and sun of the Mediterranean coast. Effervescent Afrobeat guitars and swooning sax dance over a rolling rhythm section of buoyant bass and 80s percussion, while a spoken vocal drawls in your direction and the girls ask if you’re ok. It’s only when the pinging, ringing, madly modulated bass breakdown bounds through your surroundings that you’ll wonder who slipped what in your drink…"

On the fourth disc the a-side is fully covered with the second appearance of Amsterdam producer KAAP. Known for his long live jams on his own imprint Working Titles he does the same right here. 'Phisiks', over 14 minutes long is a warm and dubby melodic builder that perfectly fits in the ÆX catalogue. On the b-side there's Ocke W again with a slamming percussive jam. The EP finishes with Taupe who is following up his track on the third chapter, here again an energetic Detroit-esque techno trip.

With varied percussions, hard kicks and dark synths, the 0% swing EP brings you back to a time when Belgian highways were still lavishly flanked by discotheques and afterhours clubs. An era that counts as one of the most beautiful pages in Belgian dance history and of which Betonkust probably has more knowledge than most of our fellow-countrymen. softcoresoft joins the Lobster family with her debut release on Lobster Theremin Black, with five propulsive, space jams. Dropping 18th October, Otherworlds EP is cosmic Techno from the Montreal-based artist that will have you hooked!

A1, Meteor Shower signals the shape of things to come, kicking off the EP with mesmeric, acid lines. Mycophilia (A2) is a deeper, driving cut, layered with rave wiggles and ethereal elements. A3 offers broken-beats, bleeps and bloops - ‘Overstatement (Space Edit)’ is a dizzying brain-tickler. On the flip, B1’s ‘Social Compost’, is a tripped out, warehouse wobbler. Rounding out the EP with a final acid cut, ‘Thalassa’ (B2), nods to early Detroit machine music with extraterrestrial influence. Gentrified Underground presents an interdisciplinary project
tackling the sonic fiction & afrofuturism of Drexciya. 
Thought as an extension to the Bubble Chamber exhibition happening at Mikro & UP STATE Zürich, GU releases a 2x12 vinyl compilation and a booklet with contributions by Abdul Qadim Haqq, Charlie Mills, chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White, Gentrified Underground, Maïté Chéniere and tracks by Xor Gate (Gerald Donald), Shawescape Renegade, DJ Dijital, Plant43, The Exaltics, Kuldaboli, Iko, Tom Ware, Luz1e and Sansibar.

The goal of this compilation is to showcase the reach and influence which Drexciya had through generations of electronic music producers and also link them together with compositorial predecessors from the early 80s. The musical timeline on this compilation starts from 1982 and reaches its contemporary end in 2019.

"More than twenty years after their first release, the sonic
fictions produced by Drexciya, the Detroit based electronic
duo founded by James Stinson and Gerald Donald at the
start of the 1990s, continues to enthral contemporary
cultural practitioners. By reimagining the Transatlantic
Slave Trade as a fiction of enforced mutation, the Drexciya
mythos opened, and continues to open, a speculative space
for the reimagining of the posthuman condition, and for
questions of becoming, origin and mutation in relation
to capitalism, finance and futurity." - Kodwo Eshun

The booklet contains unseen and unreleased Drexcyan drafts by Abdul Qadim Haqq, an interview between him and GU, contemporary art contributions by chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White and Maïté Chéniere and an academic essay by Charlie Mills.

The release will be available via Bandcamp from 27/03/20 with no price tag set for the release and every penny goes towards the worthy mental-health project, Art Angel Dundee who continue to change the lives of people in the Dundee area through different forms of art.
