Ariadne, the charming Cretan Princess was left behind by Theseus in Naxos, where Dionysos came upon her and fell instantly in love. Once they got married, the crown she wore during the wedding ceremony was tossed into the sky where its jewels became the stars of the constellation Corona Borealis. She is also the owner of the first ever dance floor. The brilliant inventor Daedalus had built it for the young fun-loving daughter of King Minos and granddaughter of sun god Helios.
“She is a goddess of true love, courage, introspection, and rebirth. She leads us into the Labyrinth to meet our “Minotaur”, to go through the process of going deep into the uncertain in order to find ourselves again. In some of the versions of her story, we find themes of abandonment and heartbreak, sacrifice of family of origin for true love, life, and death as she dies and dives deep into the underworld to give birth (cycle of life/underworld).” 

As Ariadne may have been the greatest gift to Dionysos, I devote this set to Alessia, Laura, Steven and Queeeeen Mayari.
