Ode To A Waitress

I got a giggle out of these as I was writing them and still now, after the 1000th time listening to them, they can still make me smile. There are quite a few other songs I wrote that could fit here but then I might as well just make one big album of 75 songs. Bursting with joy and happiness is how I have tried to live my life.

I hope these make you smile too!

In October 2013 I had a stroke which took away my ability to both play guitar and properly sing so I have since been unable to polish these songs. My primary goal in submitting here is they were far enough along to tell the story of the emotion and power behind them.

Most importantly, I wished to get them on the net so they may be heard, hoping someone might hear something which would suit their band, do it properly and add a piece to their repertoire.

I did theater for a while back in the 70s and had the opportunity to star in "Jesus Christ Superstar" down in Tucson. We played to sellout crowds every night and it totally amazed me watching 9000 people all rise as one when I stepped to the stage for my curtain call. My review in the Tucson Daily Star read "Steve Davis plays his voice like a loving musician, wooing an audience with sweet wonder, a biting anguish and an almost wrenching madness at times". 

As my number one intention for these songs is simply to get them out to the public.  I have only these two CDs. 

The first is my solo CD recorded in the living room of my apartment on a 4–track cassette tape recorder or years earlier on a 2–track karaoke unit. The second is with my best friend Gene Letson, we called ourselves "The Friends Band". 

I have played live many times and Gene and I have done a few parties over the years. A lot of these recordings were of him and me in his living room rehearsing and I threw out just a little box type cassette tape recorder and told him it was for history's sake. Only a few times were we able to make it into his beautiful home recording studio which was his business, Sound Works Studios.
