A genuine question: How can you discuss "safe spaces" at festivals and not once mention the Nova festival? 4 of my friends went to that "safe space" - now they are murdered. How can you frame the entire conflict as starting "after October 7th" without detailing what actually happened on October 7th? The interview condemns Israel's response as a "genocide," but ignores the atrocities her "activist" brothers did on October 7th to babies, mothers and elderly. Israel is not "clean" in this conflict just like Palestinians are not "clean" in this conflict. Without that context, this conversation is bullshit.

Words like genocide are watered down greatly when used in the wrong context. Gazan's are hell bent on murder, and they reaped what they sowed. Now they will go down in the dust bin of history as those who murdred and maimed Jews were dealt a powerful blow. RA is uber liberall, but today are crickets when Hamas has even the arab world telling them they lost and free the hostages, but no. RA is uneven, and then, less resepcted. Stick to the music. Your sense of commuity is BS and meant for readership, yet a few persons at the top make the decisions on what to print. You at the top are Jew haters, plain and simple. Rest in your own misery. Priori (@priori-ties) has always explored a wide range of techno from dense and introspective to more joyous, often against the backdrop of technological possibilities. He hails from Canada and has been prolific since first emerging with two full-lengths to his name on his own NAFF label. They pair dubby undercurrents with crystalline melodies and contain the sort of unresolved tensions that keep you locked in for the ride. This weekend he plays Dekmantel Naarm 2024 but first has served up this new mi for us.

Priori says this is the first dance mix he's done in a long time, adding "It's an hour and a half of fresh rhythms and rave sounds that I recorded while on tour in Australia. It features a few tracks I have been playing a lot lately and some forthcoming bits by myself and some friends." In just over 90 minutes he works through a rollercoaster of deep techno rhythms that are firmly focused on the future and flow as fluidly as water.

The DJ talks about Israel’s genocide in Gaza and how the music industry, and some of her peers, have failed Palestine.

The most deeply divisive topic of the year is undoubtedly Israel's genocide in Gaza. The issue has prompted some artists to step boldly into the political ring and others to shield their professional identities from scrutiny and public discourse—with each camp drawing fierce backlash.

After a brief summer hiatus, the RA Exchange returns with a new season, launching with Palestinian DJ Sama’ Abdulhadi, who addresses all this and more in a charged interview. The Ramallah-born artist has since gone on to tour non-stop internationally, regularly appearing alongside some of her idols growing up, such as Richie Hawtin and Nicole Moudaber. She's also no stranger to RA: in 2023, she graced the cover of this magazine and, just this summer, contributed to our drop of RA.1000 anniversary mixes.

This interview, though, is the most outspoken Abdulhadi has ever been. She shares her take on what's happened since October 7th, including her assessment of how and where the music industry, and her peers, have fallen short; the pressure she feels to be a global spokesperson for Palestine; why she feels that the revolutionary spirit has drained from a subculture built from resistance; and how, despite it all, she retains a sense of optimism and forward momentum. skyra is one of the local artists who has put Georgia's underground scene firmly on the map. His regular appearances at Tbilisi's cult Bassiani club have been key to that, and in August, he will showcase exactly what he's all about when he plays live for us at Selectors with Hamatsuki: deep but driving house music that's bathed in lush melodics but never short on low-end power. Next year, he has plenty of music coming up, including a release on Unforeseen with Hamatsuki.

To get you in the mood for all that is to come, he has laid down a one-hour live showcase that layers up smooth, supple, seductive drums with dreamy pads and neon melodies. The whole set glows with a late-night warmth and finds a perfect balance between beauty and beat-driven hypnosis.

This week’s interpretation of Far Blue comes from Berlin-based DJ and Refuge Worldwide and Kynant Records co-founder Richard Akingbehin.

Known for his dub-influenced sound, he takes a faster, techno-oriented approach here, showing a more driving side of Far Blue. Recorded live this summer at Field Maneuvers Festival, the mix balances between energy and depth. Faster motion, still floating.
