Baby, you're it this time…

I believe that Ani is one of the brightest lights out there in the entertainment business today for so many reasons, I can't list them all here... but not the least of which is the fact that she gives us permission to be fully human through her poetry and lyrics. 

Her grounded and raw poetic genius is exemplified in this particular song which has helped in my own healing process, in a huge way. And I feel like that is one of the purposes of art and music in general... it doesn't necessarily try to "fix" things, it simply expresses difficult and/or amazing experiences as accurately as possible. And when someone hears it, they get a sense of solidarity... a sense that they aren't alone in their shadow, or their pain, or even in their joy or their love. And I believe that's incredibly healing for everyone involved. The more authentic the art or music, the more effective it is in this respect.

I simply love bringing songs like this into the bass music genre. I tried not to alter this one too much because I consider it to be pretty much perfect, to begin with.

The Depths is the second track from the compilation, “Echoes Akashic,” a body of work containing four years of originals and remixes. 

In my experience, there is nothing quite like the love exchanged within an intimate partnership/relationship to gain access to the depths of me…. both my imperfect human self, and my transcendent nature. 

Within this passionate container there lies a golden opportunity to release lifetimes of patterns that no longer serve, and to touch the face of the creator through devotion to another… one of the great mysteries, challenges, and joys of my life. 

“The Depths” draws it’s inspiration from the passion that exists in such a connection.

The Depths

This is the third release from the "Echoes Akashic" compilation. 

This track in inspired by the transition from an old paradigm to a new one, which can be truly intense for me... often times, requiring radical shifts in my inner and outer landscape in order to navigate those tepid waters. The more that I resist, the more likely it is that I will be torn to pieces.

By its very nature, a transition such as this requires me to operate far outside of my comfort zone. It can be exhilarating, terrifying, and ecstatic, all at the same time. And though at times I can get lost in the seeming chaos of a situation, it’s when I can surrender to the greater process and trust in the mystery of all things, that something I can only describe as “grace,” occurs... and I return to a state of peace that rests deep within my heart and soul.

“Passage” is a reflection on that journey through the shadow lands into something unknown, yet familiar... an ancient future, if you will.
