We have the pleasure of welcoming the New York-born, Paris-based songwriter, performer, and DJ to our milestone 250th episode of the series. Louisahhh is a well-established moniker in the scene, with releases on labels like Discos Atónicos and her own label RAAR co-founded with her creative partner Maelstrom in 2015 with the duo just releasing their first collaborative LP,' Sustained Resistance'. 
It has been lauded as “a very brutal, brave, and beautiful body of work” (Decoded Mag).  The two are presently preparing a live-hybrid tour in support of their album, so they hope to see you in the pit.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix by Maelstrom & Louisahhh. Collaborating for over a decade, the pair have become known for their benevolent anarchy through their label, RAAR, and injecting their unique brand of techno punk into their own productions. The duo recently released their debut album, ‘Sustained Resistance’ (RAAR), which delivers 10 tracks shattering genre boundaries and using their own vision to craft everything from 'industrial jungle',  breakneck, break-beat techno poetry, cinderblock drum-less drone stutters and roaring, seething near-gabber.

Today we're ecstatic to present this huge set which we're told, "...was recorded on the day of our tenth anniversary of knowing each other and making music together and exemplifies the playful, gritty, banging joy that we sonically weave as a duo, in addition to showcasing some of our own work, both old and new."

Louisahhh & Maelstrom are a dynamic duo. Having begun their creative journey together over a decade ago, they have since co-founded the record label RAAR, which celebrates 'techno music for punks and punk music for techno-heads'. In 2023, the artists released 'Sustained Resistance', their first album as collaborators . They are presently touring a live hybrid show in support of the LP, which proves to be a powerful exploration of club spaces as political landscapes, rife with feral delight and electric, ferocious noise.

Moving to England for its second release, Rant & Rave Records presents a proper EP from South Wales-based producer JoeFarr, known for his dance-floor jams on labels such as: ‘SLAM’, ‘Arts’, and his most recent success with 2019’s epic 12” ‘Death Becomes Us’. On the a-side ‘In This Anger’, which JoeFarr has written with Louisahhh, an anxiously dark, slowly developing atmosphere menaces behind a slow rolling, broken beat for maximum effect. This is punctuated by dark, slightly distorted female vocals with sporadic lyrics subtly encouraging its dance floors to move.. and think. Signature hard and bouncy grooves with infectious in-yer-face techno riffs dominate the rest of the EP with tracks ‘Laced Up’, ‘You Can See Me’ and ‘You will See Me (Hardcore)’, effortlessly weaving in and out of the pulsating groove with an interesting palette of machine sounding synths and heavily processed vocals.

Exactly 40 minutes of one-take wonders, this LP is not only a sonic feast but a demonstration of creative ethics, catharsis, self-expression and a deep longing to make something in direct retaliation to the mindless, consumer-driven ideologies of the modern music industry. Somehow, in that quest, the work produced manages to be at once ferocious, beautiful, banging and liberated.
