Remixer and Houston-based artist Ivan Berkowitz @ivan-berkowitz is a growing name within melodic house and indie dance universes. Rabbit Records hits an incredible twenty-sixth release with a rising Italian talent Evan de Novellis @evandenovellis. 2021 has been important for him, as Evan firmly puts himself on a map with releases on ONISM, SRNDR Records and ICONYC Noir. Using a range of different instruments and synths he summons inventive melodic techno tracks that are dance floor focused but loaded with new ideas.

This new fantastic journey opens with the well-crafted, majestically musical track "Analog Poem". This one has an expansive, epic sense of drama. The busy cosmic synth sequences bring the track to life and ensure maximum impact.

Olffmann @olffmann_music has an elegant and emotive sound that can be warm and pensive or more peak time and energetic, as he has proven with his various remixes and with releases on labels like Freegrant Music and Movement Recordings. Here he turns the original "Research of Humanity" into an electrifying melodic techno roller with bright synths lighting up the skies in cosmic fashion.

Himmelblau's @himmelblau1 unique act and emotional creations carry quite a large scope. The opening track, "Urli", carries many of his most treasured production hallmarks. From a warm, earthy low end to atmospherics and an effects storyboard to get lost in, there is certainly a lot to enjoy. The break moments are perhaps the high points, with the mood shifting from lugubrious to emotive and ominous with effortless ease. It's something you rarely witness, and Himmelblau pulls it off beautifully here.

"Beluga" by @himmelblau1 explores vast sonic spaces complemented by kinetic percussion. Incredible to see that the German producer is not afraid to explore esoteric or introspective themes and the end result is a compelling one.

The title track by @himmelblau1, "Maple and Rowan", is a beautiful adventurous piece telling a story of the sights Marinus and his girlfriend marvelled at when driving through the Alps to Italy. Utilizing the hypnotizing groove underpinned by rumbling bass, the whole track features a strong sense of direction, never stopping to admire the ambient vastness of sonic bliss as in previous productions; the infectious groove fades in and out for maximum effect.

The closing track by @himmelblau1, "Hochkönig", keeps the electronica side of Himmelblau's music alive. While the melancholy increases with mystical and lucid elements intertwined, the pulsating bass powers along supported by the assiduous techno-driven percussion and combined with analogue warmth to raise the energy levels up a notch.

"…even more important is the love I have for the North. For some reason, I always wanted to own a little cabin far up in the north (especially Norway or Iceland) and just spend my days there. (This is why I am attending Scandinavian studies). For me, winter, cold, snow and ice don't necessarily mean a lack of emotion and prettiness. That was what I was trying to achieve with those tracks. I wanted to focus on the nice things of winter, like this mysterious feel of moonlight being reflected by snow, the cracking of ice or snow when you walk on it, the quietness and the cosy feeling you get when you're at home…"

A duo making a name for themselves on an array of established independent labels, Spirit and The Guide are becoming a shining light in the progressive house arena with their brand new EP on Rabbit Records entitled "Alafia". Super Mario and Roberto Frattini - hailing from India and Switzerland respectively - the duo @spiritandtheguide began their friendship on the dancefloor, sharing their decades-long passion and appreciation for progressive and sundowner sounds.

Opening their offering, "Alafia" is a beautiful sunkissed tune, fuelled by rich chords, spacious percussion-driven and groove-infused melodic lines. Sumptuously syncopated chords provide instant dancefloor appeal as textured pads and tastefully selected wooden percussions supply a relaxed beach-inspired vibe that develops into the breakdown. Picking up the pace once more in the second half, a shimmering arpeggio adds further to a blissful sonic collage.

Providing the lone interpretation of the title track "Alafia", characterised by a thumping four-to-the-floor backdrop, the founder of Bloom Records goes deeper and more hypnotic across a magical 10-minute journey. Creating new arpeggiated sequences with melodic themes rooted in @spiritandtheguide original, a stunning new groove adds further while the remix opens up in the second half to create a storming club-friendly banger that entwines new harmonies and melodies with ease. A truly special interpretation.

Now making his Rabbit Records debut, the Fran Garay remix takes "Floating" on a rich rhythmic voyage that delights with a new galaxy of effects that generate a beautiful sonic cadence of their own. Full of emotion, floating spacious pads and touching vocals soar through the mix at the mid-way point and into the breakdown before the rolling rhythmic pattern picks up the pace into the third movement to create an impressive remix that retains the character of @spiritandtheguide original while transforming it into a new, brightly coloured sonic tapestry.
