Disquiet Junto Project 0639: Path Ways (4 of 3)

My second piece is a cross between points 2 and 3.
As a starting piece I chose the piece by encyn, a true gem of this compilation.
I recovered what was originally supposed to be my 637, then abandoned because the track had already been chosen. In this case without channel limitations.
Starting from this 636 I followed the family tree and chose some 637s and 638s to mix on the starting track.

The Assignment: Make music inspired by a poem.

Step 1: This project is inspired by a brief poem by Yoko Ono, in which she wrote, “Take the sound of the stone aging.” Consider that sound.

Step 2: Record your impression of the sound of stone aging.

Background: This week’s project is based on a text by Yoko Ono, originally published in her book Grapefruit 60 years ago, back in 1964.

0648 = Shadow Boxing. Employ shadow boxing as a musical metaphor.

The one trying to defend itself is a church organ, alone, without its titular organist. It fights by trying to express by itself, with the air it has left from the depths of its many windchests and pipes, from the depths of its entrails. The organ is alive, as are all instruments, of course... But now he's afraid, he attempts to call for help as fire threatens under the cathedral's vaults. He's afraid of dying.

It is April 15, 2019. The fire will spread, destroying the spire and the entire roof covering the nave, choir and transept. But the organ will be saved.

Completely dismantled, and cleaned of smoke dust, "the king of instruments" would play again 5 years later, this time with his organist friend. He witnessed the biggest disaster to hit the cathedral since it was built. He is the miraculous witness of Notre-Dame.

The "generalbass" roots the original form of the concerto. Everything is carried out musically around this. I focussed upon this impression. Good to connect and remind one's own "generalbass".

based upon a field recording, I developed a musical sketch about the brief moment of a passing by plane. A small dog was a little upset and – possibly – immerged into his own world for a second, conducted by this intense experience.
