This is an orchestral cover of Overworld from Zelda A Link to the Past. I'd never paid much attention to the Zelda music until recently. I wish I had gotten into it much earlier as there's so many good pieces of music hidden behind 8bit blips and blops. I tried to keep faithful while adding a little of my own style.

An orchestration of the ending theme from Super Mario World by Koji Kondo. I posted a shorter version of this a while back, but this has the ending now where I tested out Sample Modeling's Horns & Tuba. So much awesome.


Super Mario World - Ending Orchestra

After releasing NESify a week or so ago, someone had asked me if it would be possible to sequence music using samples from the Super Nintendo's SPC700 audio processor chip. Suffice to say that it is possible, but strangely, only having eight channels to use makes it challenging. While you have five base channels with the NES's RP2A07 sound chip (including PCM), various extensions (such as the N106, or VRC7) allow you to use extra channels, thus increasing the capacity from five to a maximum of 14 (VRC7 for example includes three extra pulse square/sawtooth channels and six YM2403 FM channels). With the SPC700, you're stuck with just eight!

Having said that, here is a demo of how you can use all of the SPC700's channels to recreate what I would call a modern classic. Hope you all enjoy this little mock-up.

Pokémon Black and White - Nuvema Town (SPC700)

An orchestration of the Main theme from Final Fantasy IV. I wanted to experiment with a mixture of something grandiose and fanfare-y that turned into something a little more string-filled and delicate. Hopefully I kept the feeling of the piece in this remake.
