Easter Monday

I woke in dreamtime
feet planted deep in mother
rich loamy haunted soil nourishing, 
vacuous head spins, eclipse of the I, trailing
steady lunar course momentarily, then off beyond..
I’m swimming frantically amidst vortex swirls
riding hyper-galactic flow and oh, then on again
flung far outside this fragile time to where
space multiplies prolifically and I am lost
slipping silently between universes
light emitting dark currents of love..

I Woke In Dreamtime

I was inspired to write this poem by one of the great #IthacaPrompts offered in Mar2021 by @Writing.By.SA on Instagram.

god is a shout in the morning street
a child’s laughing footsteps
an unexpected parcel the postie leaves
my physio calling a warm ‘hello!’

god is the way she pulls me
stretching me outwards and up
the sore lengthened stride
rotating hips re-aligned

god is the cool green juice
whizzed up every morning
toasted bread and teacakes
buttered love smothered criminally

god is the music and the silence
the whispered promise of an email
tinkling of paintbrush on water glass
a spiral of pigments discovered and lost

god is the softness of my moleskin
the swish and flip of turning pages
the irresistible aroma of ink flowing
from the fountain pen’s sculpted nib

god is the front door being pushed open hard
the clattering canon of feet on stair boards
hugs, tugging arms, the tellings and recountings
the dancing, endless moving and singing ‘bum’ songs

god is the water bottles’ heat soothing joints
the patient prepping, serving and devouring of food
the laughing, playing, settling, reading and the sleep
god is a bark in the midnight street

god is a shout
