Glossary:
act (actuality) - cut or clip in a story
DACS (DACS lines or lines) - brief descriptions of stories
buttons - short clips of music intended to break up two pieces in a segment
breaking - to drop national programming to air local news, or to change the program clock on an exceptional basis
feed - audio sent by NPR to local stations
M-E - Morning Edition
themes - each show's signature music, distributed "dry" (without talking over it) for hosts to localize
A-T-C - All Things Considered
bed - music broadcast between segments for local hosts to talk over
cutaways - moments in the show designed to be dropped by local stations in exchange for local content
clean cutaway - a planned cutaway at a specific time, versus a "floating" cutaway that local hosts must listen out for
Newscast 3 - a third tier of national news broadcast at :06 past the hour that is generally dropped for local news
