Man oh man has it been a whirlwind as of late, but the universe can no longer hold this mix back. As soon as I received this gem from Racket Club weeks ago, everything decided to happen at once. But here we are, and I am honored to feed you this delicious journey that delivers those funky, soulful and nutritious beats that your body craves. 

I found Racket Club soon after my discovery of Pizza & Techno and was captivated both by his skills on the decks and the affiliation with the worlds greatest food which is obviously pizza. I mean, what a combination right?
This uplifting mix reminds me that everything is going to be alright and how grateful I am for people like Jon whose creativity makes life in this realm that much more enjoyable.

Hailing from Boston and living in Los Angeles, Jon Gilman aka Racket Club has been involved in music his whole life. Truly his #1 passion, he grew up playing drums in rock bands, symphonic bands, and jazz bands. He was influenced by classic rock, jazz, blues, alternative rock, hip hop, and the list goes on. After spending six months in Australia that's when the electronic and dance music bug hit and he hasn't looked back. Racket Club began DJing over a decade ago by taking up residencies around Boston. His journey took him to the Bay Area where he teamed up with like-minded individuals and founded the event Pzza & Techno which have been wildly successful so much so that he now runs the LA edition (save the date for July 31!). Outside of running Pizza & Techno he's building the label Top Shelf Disco which already has a number of releases and their big event coming up on August 7th in Koreatown. 

Racket Club's latest track is an edit he and good friend Clavette wrote of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" which you can hear at the end of this mix and will be out later this Summer.

From an early age it’s been about the rhythm section for Racket Club. Playing drums in bands that covered Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, Racket Club’s style has since morphed into what he calls Disco-Tech: a little Disco, a little Tech, and everything in between. He has an affinity for bouncy House music bass lines with female and hip hop vocals and you know he’s going to throw down in the club having done it for nearly 15 years, at venues like Sound Nightclub LA, Academy LA, Audio San Francisco, House of Blues, Lost Beach Club (Ecuador), Slate New York, and Zuma Boston. 

Racket Club has played support for and alongside heavy hitters HoneyLuv, Gene Farris, Westend, DJ Susan, OFFAIAH, Pickle, and Zen Freeman and he’s been on the bill for Groove Cruise, Wicked Paradise, Space Yacht, Hood Politics, Framework, and even Mammoth Mountain.

On the production side Racket Club’s released a flurry of edits that have gone viral on SoundCloud including his Beyoncé edit that’s approaching 50K streams and has aired on BBC Radio 1. He’s also had releases on Top Shelf Disco and Quincy Boy Records, with a release on Hood Politics out Spring 2023.

Former member of the record label Top Shelf Disco, a founder of the event series Pizza & Techno plus a co-founder of the music blog My Music Is Better Than Yours, Racket Club is no stranger to the electronic music world. Keep an eye on this LA-based stud as his single goal in life is to make you dance.
