Forge Ahead, a cello quartet, was commissioned by Justin Pounds for Rachel Czech's graduate recital on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in partial fulfillment of her Master of Music in Cello Performance Degree from the University of Missouri.  Rachel requested a fun piece for herself and three of her Community Music Project (a private lesson program through the University of Missouri) cello students: Bram Treiman, Naomi Garson, and Avery Welch.

Dvorak's Silent Woods, Op. 68, No. 5

Cellist Rachel Czech scheduled her first-ever Solo Recital at the Tavern of Fine Arts on August 13, 2015.  Rachel performed four works during her recital: Ligeti Sonata for Solo Cello I. Dialogo, Bach Cello Suite No. 3 in C Major, Gabrielli Ricercar No. 3 in D Major, and Hindemith Sonata for Solo Cello; all are unedited live recordings- you will hear conversations and forks and glasses clinking from my audience enjoying their evening!
In preparation for her solo recital, Rachel spent 2 months in the North Carolina mountains at the Brevard Music Institute studying cello performance under Susannah Chapman, Jenny Kozoroz, Jonathan Spits, Benjamin Karp, and Nicholas Tzavaras.

Student teaching in St. Louis in the spring of 2013 invigorated Rachel Czech to continue to discover, teach, and introduce others to all types of music one can find.  Rachel graduated in May 2013 from the University of Missouri and holds a Bachelor's of Science in Instrumental Music Education with Education Departmental Honors.  Applying her strong background in education and educational research, she wishes to instill her same eagerness to explore both old and new music styles to unfamiliar listeners through private lessons and educational performance programs.  Continuing her education at the University of Missouri, she is now pursuing her master's degree in cello performance while performing with the New Music Ensemble to promote new compositions.  Additionally, Rachel travels as a freelance cellist to perform and collaborate with other artists in the Missouri and Illinois areas.
