D-Nasty managed to surprise the world of drum&bass with his 2019 EP on Radar Records. Putting his own twist on the current uk sound, the resurgence of jungle music and old school jump-up landed him in the Rekordboxes of the biggest dj’s out there. Astounding sound design and an extremely meticulous approach to production helped him stand out. But the man wasn’t satisfied and locked himself up for months on end to reinvent his sound and the result is finally here. The Destiny EP shows a new & improved D-Nasty that’s aiming for the crown and has expanded his skills far beyond what anyone would have guessed he was capable of before. “Destiny” was already sent out and gave us a taste of what to expect, and he continues that path with "Encom Int”, “Dysphoria”, “Blinding Lights” and “Naufragé”, bringing back his girlfriend Laura for vocals (in French, this time around!). And he tops it off with a VIP version of Unusual, reminding everyone he’s still got that jump-up sound on lock too.

KRANKk is a Belgian trio composed of Aram Abgaryan, Thomas Geysen, and Willem Heylen, who are widely known for their eclectic music style that draws from UK Garage, Grime, and other influences. The trio, who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, have now released a new EP titled "Thr33fold" on DJ Murdock's Radar Records. This new EP shows their talent in the Drum and Bass genre and promises to bring an immersive and virtuosic live experience to their audience.

The EP opens with "META," a powerful half-time beat that sets the tone for the rest of the EP. The track has echoes of dystopian science fiction and builds up to a powerful drop that leaves the listener flattened and satisfied.

The second track, "The Wire," features Shaka Shams and is a gritty, angsty, and powerful track that projects the anger of the failing system.

The title track, "Thr33fold," is a mix of Jersey-Club, Drum and Bass, and Ambient music and represents the coming together of the trio.

In "LAW x Mad Hed City," KRANKk explores their megalomaniacal sound with distinct drum and bass breaks, topped off with Caribbean flavors. Mad Hed City, known from his infamous dnb tracks with The Prototypes, raps and sings about life during the pandemic. The track symbolizes that power will always stay in the hands of the people.

We’d love for this man to drop gems like these on us every day of the week, because we can’t get enough of his inimitable style. Top notch production as usual, an incredible knack for finetuning and an eagle’s eye for detail. Unmistakably Basstripper! “Back To Normal’ is one of the those tunes that proves you really don’t need anything but a bassline to run things, and once, someday, when we get back to normal, it’ll be great to hear this one out in the dance. “Lightspeed”, then, proves how much this man is a master at creating melodies with random sounds, just piecing bits together till everything falls into place. As one of those producers your favorite dj always keeps an eye out for, Basstripper proves, once again, why he’s ahead of the pack.

Jump up drum&bass got a bad rep for a while, back in the mid-tens, with hordes of teenagers screwfacing and gurning to screechy bass and simple two-step drums at 180bpm. But that same scene matured and spawned some of the most interesting producers the genre boasts today, just think of the likes of Bou, Turno, Hedex, Upgrade and more. Enter Maze, a young cat that used to get his gurn on in the dungeons of the Belgian jump-up and took his first steps into producing backed by Low Down Deep, and has since developed a style very much his own and very hard to pin down. All 3 tracks on his first EP for Radar show a desire for experimentation, craftmanship when it comes to sound design and an at-easness when it comes to dancefloor. Rapper Shaka is just as menacing as the character Omar Little, however, he brings an important message. His heavy raps are about never pretending to be something you are not. Stick to being yourself and don't be fake. In terms of style, they evoke memories of the early days of drum 'n' bass (90's Core). Great gentlemen like The Prodigy, Bad Company and Noisia were an inspiration for the creation of this track.

Belgium has proven to be a fertile breeding ground for drum&bass music, what with artists like Netsky and Murdock and events like Rampage and Invaderz.

The surge of jump-up that catered to Belgian crowds specifically was so significant that the term ‘Belgian Jump Up’, although coined over 5 years ago, still rings a bell today. That wave of hard-hitting, nerve-wrecking dancefloor beats produced a number of producers that have grown into mature artists, and one of its prime examples is Basstripper.
