Team up Roxy Epoxy and Chris “Gobo” Pierce and you get “Presenting”, the absolutely fantastic debut album from Faux Replika. Since the break up of The Epoxies (Fat Wreck Chords) in 2008, Roxy has kept herself quite busy, These songs were written half long distance with her in Oregon and Chris in New Jersey, and half on Roxy’s trips back east. The result is an equal mix of their two styles that mix and bubble in the cauldron of rock n roll. The end product is nothing short of electrifying. Roxy’s low hypnotic voice and captivating performances as The Epoxies frontowman has drawn comparisons to Chrissie Hynde, Siouxie Sioux and even a young Leonard Graves from The Dickies. Now take Chris Pierce. Here’s a man who has produced bands like The Ergs and Nightbirds and has the ability to utterly destroy any instrument he picks up. Lock the two of them in a studio in New Brunswick and this is what you get. An eclectic mix of punk rock, new wave, hyper fuzzed out electro-rock, deluxe hooks and mega riffs. Think DEVO meets Tilt. Faux Replika - "Wolves Wear Ballgowns"

Two punk stalwarts team up together on Rad Girlfriend records.  Each band brings one original and one cover song to the table. Dead Bars give their version of "Don't Change" by INXS while the Nathans bring their own take on the NOFX classic "I'm Telling Tim".  The Raging Nathans new song, "Minor Details" show the band moving in a more guitar driven, melodic direction while still maintaining the fast paced tempos and introspective lyrical themes that the band has become known for.  The Dead Bars song highlights their own unique sound with a catchy and self depricating look at what it's like to be a Dead Bars regular.  With a new LP on AF Records and a previous EP on No Idea! Dead bars are putting in the work and it's paying off.

RECORDED BY MATT YONKER, (LESS THAN JAKE, TEEN IDOLS) THIS RECORD MARKS A DISTINCT MILESTONE IN SONGWRITING FOR THE BAND, BOTH IN TERMS OF LYRICS, SUBJECT MATTER AND MUSIC. WITH THIS BEING THEIR FIRST ALBUM AS A FOUR PIECE, THE RAGING NATHANS STAY TRUE TO FORM IN TERMS OF THE FAST-PACED MELODIC STYLE THAT THEY ARE KNOWN FOR, YET “OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANCE” BRANCHES OUT INTO NEW TERRITORY FOR THE BAND. THE LYRICS DON’T HIDE BEHIND EGO, ARROGANCE OR CONTEMPTUOUS SORROW AND THEIR DIY ETHIC AND SENSIBILITIES SPEAK TO THE RELATABILITY OF THE MEMBERS AS PEOPLE. THEY MAY WEAR THEIR INFLUENCES ON THEIR SLEEVE BUT THESE 12 SONGS DEMONSTRATE THEIR RANGE OF DIRECTION AND ABILITY AS WELL AS THEIR WILLINGNESS TO GET PERSONAL. THE FIRST SONG WILL LEAVE YOU WITH A PIT IN YOUR STOMACH AND FROM THERE THE ALBUM REDLINES IT INTO HIGH GEAR UNTIL THE LAST SONG. “OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANCE” IS THE RAGING NATHANS BEST RECORD TO DATE AND WHEN ITS OVER IT LEAVES YOU WITH AN ODD FEELING LIKE ITS NOT QUITE OVER.
