MARK FARINA – MUSIC CULTURED will be released on STATIC MUSIC on June 16th 2017. 

MUSIC CULTURED is a smooth house tune from accomplished producer and DJ Mark Farina. Classic house percussion introduces the track, and over the 8 minutes what ensues is a rhythmic and driving tune. Cut up vocal samples talking about music, culture and authenticity are peppered over an arrangement that clearly shows Farina’s jazz and downtempo influences. A bass line sits underneath the main arrangement, which would undoubtedly propel the track when played on a club’s sound system. Layer after layer of sounds come together in Music Cultured which is a great illustration of the track’s name; Farina draws on a lot of influences for this track, and crafts a piece of classic house music perfectly.

The album is packed full of bona fide basics dance floor bombs from the clubs 25 year history, lovingly re-mastered from original DAT tapes and recordings. Compiled as a labour of love over two years the renowned resident DJs left no stone unturned in tracking down the music from source with many titles long lost in record company vaults and archives. The compilation includes Chicago acid house, New York groovers and early morning gems that helped define the back to basics sound. The record is completed with artwork from the godfather of punk design – Jamie Reid.

"That Peep That Show" B DAY BREAKS

In 1992 two souls from San Francisco descended on Austin. Homesick, we wanted to recreate the dance scene we loved from home and so we searched the dance floor of the 404 and many other places looking for the true believers of the dance, passing out 3x5 index cards with a time and place rubberstamped on them.  And so raDiANCe was born one hot summer night in a loading dock under what is now the city hall complex, a true come-unity of djs, vjs, interactive video artists, roboticists, dancers and cyberfreaks. This was our music.
