2. Observing our experience and our way of relating to what we become aware of i.e. thoughts, feelings, sensations 
 
3. Body - opening with curiosity and noticing points of contact 
 
4. Extending to noticing the whole body and releasing the weight as best we can 

5. Responding with intention as moving to the next moments of our day.

This Self Caring Pause can support us to develop more helpful ways of responding to difficulty, and deliberately activating our innate care-giving system for the benefit of our wellbeing.

SELF CARING PAUSE

We can practice meeting ourselves with care when things are tough. We can notice our inner tone to self and bring, the intention at least, to meet ourselves like we would someone we really care about. A caring, comforting, soothing gesture is one natural way to activate our neurobiological response. U-turning our care giving system for ourselves.

MEETING OURSELVES with a CARING GESTURE

In this practice we combine the felt sense of breathing with inner vocalisations. We explore connecting the rhythm of the breath, with offering ourselves what we feel we need in that moment. Breathing in a word or quality, offering ourselves internally what we need, something good for ourselves, especially when things are difficult or painful.

GIVING OURSELVES WHAT WE NEED

This is a Body Scan practice supporting connecting with the direct experience of different parts of the body. The practice supports the development of our innate capacity for present moment awareness, and trains the retaining and shifting of our attentional capacity, with a quality of attending with care and appreciation to ourselves.

SCANNING THE BODY with CARE

This is a mindfulness practice in which our primary focus of awareness is with the breath and the body. Supporting the development for our mindful present moment awareness, and the understanding of the movements of our mind, and more helpful ways of meeting our experience and ourselves.

ATTENDING to the BREATH & the BODY with CARE

This practice supports us to explore flows of care and compassion. It is a breath and body based practice that combines suggestions for more caring inner relating to our experience and ourselves. During the practice we are guided to offer a flow of care and warmth by directing these intentions towards ourselves and another, in rhythm with our breath.

RECEIVING & OFFERING CARE

This practice offers the opportunity to work in a new way with difficult emotion, in this case, embarrassment or shame. Remember that you can stop engaging at any point if it feels difficult to continue, taking good care of yourself.

We advocate the importance of Care for Self, Care for Others and Care for the Planet as foundations for wellbeing and thriving for individuals, communities and societies. We are also the designers of the new Radical Self-Care (RadSec) approach, and offer therapeutic group and 1:1 work including RadSec, Mindfulness, Compassion, CFT, ACT and more.
