Pour cette release, Roots Raid s'est associé à leur ami et producteur Panda Dub pour la composition, accompagné des deux deejays Cookah &  Likkle Ferguson, les deux compères que l'on retrouvait sur deux précédents titres en 2020 : "About Life" et "Africa".

Rooty Cowboy est un titre résolument Stepper Moderne influencé par les sonorités electro des deux producteurs Panda Dub et Roots Raid. Le duo de chanteurs Cookah & Likkle Ferguson livre ici un "Rooty Cowboy" entêtant et incisif. Cookah se charge d'élargir l'espace temps des refrains (Rooty Cowboy, he used to be a kid, but now, he is a man...) tandis qu’Arran se colle aux couplets et fait monter la pression par son flow ravageur et saillant pendant les 4m47 du morceau. 

Les deux chanteurs évoquent une nouvelle thématique autour du voyage initiatique d'un jeune Cowboy devenant adulte, résonant tel une parabole du "Candide" de Voltaire. Inspiré des 4 éléments et de Mother Nature le duo décrit un Rooty Cowboy au conscious living "using the sun as a guiding star" et respectueux de tout un chacun. 

Un Rooty cowboy sublimé par une illustration sur mesure de la talentueuse strasbourgeoise Nadia Diz Grana qui a réalisé l’art work. Connue pour sa technique du « collage art », on peut compter, parmi ses collaborations, plusieurs couvertures de presse (Le Monde, Télérama, La Déferlante…) mais aussi des institutions et des scènes culturelles. Elle poste nombre de ses créations sur son compte Instagram 

A l’instar des releases produites par Berry’s records jusqu’alors, le mastering a été confié à Pilah Dub (Kaly Live Dub / Dub Addict).

US production duo Alter Echo & E3 have linked up with Bristol’s Ishan Sound to create an awe- inspiring warrior stance anthem. Ah Mi Guide features a hypnotic sample from Rider Shafique, over an unrelenting beat crafted by E3 and Ishan then mixed in dub by Alter Echo. The flipside remix comes via ascendant dubstep producer Egoless, who transforms the stark original into a slow burning fire, garnished with a flourishing flute refrain. Either side is guaranteed to shake up and mesmerise a dance!

One of the brightest lights of the roots-influenced underground community for the past half-decade, Poland born Mateusz Miller has pioneered a compelling and unique fusion of sounds that encompass dub, reggae and dubstep under his Radikal Guru moniker. Inspired by an appreciation of soundsystem culture, his music has become synonymous with suffocating degrees of dread bassweight, vibrant and eclectic palettes of tone, and varying energy levels that cater for both dancefloor focussed ruckus and for more meditative listening. Heavily influenced by the likes of King Tubby and Scientist, Matt first gained worldwide acclaim and recognition through a string of killer vinyl releases on leading reggae/dubstep imprint Dubbed Out, before forming a creative partnership with fellow label Moonshine Recordings where he has gone on to cement his reputation as one of the strongest proponents of the scene. His Moonshine discography boasts highlights that include his debut LP ‘The Rootstepa’ and the mighty ‘Dread Commandments’ 12”, and keep an eye out for some seriously exciting developments in the pipeline including the release of his second album. Not only a talented producer, Matt is also a fine selector, conveying his passion for music through DJ sets that pay homage to the sound and culture’s rich history as much as they showcase the freshest cuts of sonic innovation from himself and his contemporaries. He has hit spots all around the world to assault soundsystems with bass-fuelled beats and positive vibes.
