Marky Lyrical is an inspired soulful reggae singer based in Sutton, Canada. His recent work includes 2022 singles "Herbman Ting" and “River to Pray” in collaboration with House of Riddim out of Austria, followed by works with Fire Connection Records (France, UK), notably, “Run Run Run” (2024) and “My Joy”, making an impact in Europe and beyond. 

With “Babylon Walls”, Marky begins his work with Akashic Records (USA) and King Alpha (UK). He is certain to make an impact with the international audience as a versatile and innovative reggae singer worthy of distinction.

After Violinbwoy’s successful ‘Mono County’ twelver and Moonshine’s tight collaboration with Steppas Records, the imprint is ready to march on and announce its next 12-inch coloured vinyl release waiting in line.

The mighty Mungo’s Hi-Fi and Sekkleman have taken up Radikal Guru’s (RG) prolific ‘Subconscious’ long player. Each has picked a track of choice to lengthen and relive the Polish sound of 2013. With a remix of originals 
‘Stay Calm ft. YT’ and ‘Earthwalker, the imprint’s back catalogue is steadily shifting the sediment of dub(wise) music.  

Mungo’s Hi Fi’s take on RG’s ‘Stay Calm’ is a meditative jam that reaches out to the most high. The track is led by a low-toned bassline that immerses listeners in lo-fi tremor. It shakes chest plates, while YT’s blessed vocal work transcends the average dub plate. His energetic lines of wisdom align with Mungo’s futuristic drum work; all to forge a revolutionary sound that honours RG’s dub style. Guided by several melody leads, swinging flows and sample tweaks, this rework really sets a groove of its own.

The flip side of ‘MS024’ reaches out to a confident steppa-style production that will remind many of scene favourite Gorgon Sound. The Australian-based Sekkleman has an exciting go at reinterpreting ‘Earthwalker’ in his own profound way: a pounding kick, rowdy b-lines and an enthralling flute escort listeners through the path to Jah. The mental atmosphere that follows suit sets a tone that touches upon RG’s original intentions. It bundles the roots of this stepper, allowing it to effectively trigger a journey that eases down the brain; just close your eyes and skank towards peace and unity.

‘MS024’ embodies a returning theme, consisting of two remixes that add even more significance to the existence of Radikal Guru’s 2nd album. For us, taking part in this movement is all that matters. Thanks for your support!

Following on from a exciting few years for the Reggae Roast crew, where they’ve built their own custom heavyweight Soundsystem, headlined festivals and club nights all over the world & released a string of critically acclaimed singles, they are proud to present their first feature length artist album from longtime collaborator and integral part of the Reggae Roast family, Adam Prescott.

‘Warrior’ kicks off with the title track from UK veteran and all round lyrics machine Brother Culture, who, over a steppers style riddim chants militantly about Rastafari. The LP continues with notable features from Parly B, Charlie P, Donovan Kingjay & Nottingham UK Hip-Hop legend, Karizma. In a time where
many producers stick to one particular sound, Adam showcases his variable style to full effect throughout ensuring the listener’s full attention until the very last note.

Nottingham's own Adam Prescott is one the most exciting new producers in the UK Digital Roots scene. With support and guidance from Mark Iration (from the Leeds based Iration Steppas), Adam has quickly established himself as one of the key players in the re-emergence of British Reggae, with first class original songs featuring the likes of Cornel Campbell, Michael Prophet, Sugar Minot, Ranking Joe, Rod Taylor & Johnny Osbourne to name but a few. Add to that consistent play on BBC Radio One & Rinse FM & huge support from Sir David Rodigan, featuring Adam on his ‘Best Of British’ show on 1Xtra, Adam is becoming one of the hottest prospects in the revival of soundsystem music.

With a full year of crucial releases scheduled and soundsystem sessions booked worldwide, 2016 is set to be one of the best years so far for Reggae Roast so keep them eyes peeled!

01 Warrior (Feat. Brother Culture)

A Tribute to Osbert Maddo a.k.a Bionic Singer a.k.a. O. Maddo

Osbert Maddo (a.k.a Maddo, the Bionic Singer, Papa Maddo was brought up in Easter Kingston. He went to the legendary Alpha Boys Primary School and then to Excelsior high school. As a youth, he and his brother UU Maddo used to listen to Sound Systems such as Sir Stanford, Sir Norman Arrows and Phase 1. The sound Sir Stanford with who he used to sing initally transformed to Stylistics (Maddo's favourite singing group at the time) and a man called Danhai became the owner and DJ.
 
One evening, in '77, his friends Michael and Scarley decided that they should stop by the sound Stereophonic to meet their friend Donovan who was working with the sound. While there Maddos friend Scarley dared the deejay Welton Irie to give Maddo the microphone. The singer then sung a few songs (such as Skylarking by Horace Andy – Maddo’s favourite singer and also the one he based his singing style on). He was then asked to perform the following weekend and he was soon a resident singer on the sound.
  
 In 1983 Maddo relocated to the USA.

Cubiculo Records got in touch with Maddo on the Summer of 2015 to voice a “Smuggel Riddim” by Casio Love, Maddo instantly fell in love with it and agree to work with Cubiculo and Casio Love to make his comeback tune as he didn’t have any music released for years. After sending us the vocal Maddo was asking for the final mix every day and week as he was feeling the tune a lot and he wanted to start pushing it on the US, on the day we sent him the final mix we got the most unexepted and sad reply we could possibly be waiting for, Osbert had pass away the day before we finished the mix.

This is so far the most special release Cubiculo has done, it’s more than a release, it’s a tribute to this great singer and we are very proud to be releasing his ever last recording. Part of profits will go to his son and wife that have been supporting this release since we started to work with Maddo until today.

RIPower King Maddo, your music and legacy will never be forgotten.
