"My aim was to make something that defines where I'm at as an artist and with music today. It's downtempo, sexy, swamp, slick, reflective, pretty, and fun. It was recorded with a Varia RDM20 rotary mixer. Intended to be played late, after a party, or with a lucky person one night. You'll find sounds from South America, the UK, Berlin, France, Jamaica, Switzerland, Ukraine, and many more. 

The past two years have been about discovering new sounds and revisiting some old ones. I was raised in an uncanny Christian group in Savannah, Georgia, that restricted me from a lot in life. One of the only liberating things about that group was my exposure to the music and dance of other cultures. The Guatemalan and Mexican families taught me about salsa, meringue, and bachata. My cousins from North Carolina are black, they showed me house music. The soft nods to my love for these early introductions and moments are in this mix. Blended with the reality of what I hear now." 

NSA (Cameron Allen), a multidisciplinary artist known for his art and DJ work, emerged from coastal Savannah Georgia to arrive in Atlanta where he now resides. The swampy marshland landscape of his early years sets a clear narrative for an eerie and unconventional force laced with an upbringing around latin dance, ghettotech, and electro-house music. Since his first breakthrough release praised by Pitchfork at the age of 19, NSA has spun for queer spearheads such as Deep South and Honcho, co-founded the Hz Like Hell brand and Stroke parties, and is a driving force of the Atlanta underground with his infamous after parties. His penchant for challenging and strange sounds keeps the floor hooked.

Aérea Negrot needs no introduction; she’s a Berlin institution. Whether starring in a film, appearing on stage belting out a live set or werqing the CDJs, she permeates pure artistic energy. Her visibility has influenced a new generation of trans artists who have flocked to the German Hauptstadt. She first met Buttons & WHOLE Festival organizer, Jacob Meehan, back in 2014 on his first trip from Chicago to Berlin (where he shared the futon alongside Shaun J. Wright). Who would’ve known back then that their bed & breakfast scenario would turn into the city’s hawtest B2B a decade later.

DR. OK is a Berlin-based front-row dancer for over a decade, researcher, and vinyl-first DJ. His sets are designed to spark transcendental experiences and promote sonic healing for his audience. The German-Turkish artist's sound is a fearless blend of House, Breaks, Progressive, Proto-Trance, Speed Garage, Ambient, Hardcore, Acid, Hip Hop, R&B, Turkish Psychedelic Rock, and beyond. His journey into DJing was inspired by his deep admiration for Octo Octa and Eris Drew, whose comprehensive guide, "Hot n' Ready DJ Tips, Tricks, & Techniques," proved instrumental in his artistic development – excitingly, they will also host a workshop at this year's Whole Festival!

Pure Immanence ran with the theme of our March 2018 party, "Encounters with Genderless Aliens from Another Universe," as evidenced in this otherworldly live recording.  

The duo are residents at Brooklyn’s roving underground techno staple Unter, where they curate and perform ambient.  Their popular Wednesday-night residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club will celebrate its 2nd anniversary this July.  In August, Pure Immanence will be back in Berlin joining the Unter crew + Buttons & other queer Berlin party collectives at this year's Whole Festival (Aug 24-27  www.wholefestival.com )

Why not both?  @michel-serafini joined us from Chicago, where he owns & runs the 50 year old record shop Gramaphone - an institution that has a distinct lineage within the city's history of dance music.  The Smart Bar / Queen resident brought a healthy dose of the Chi-Town house sound to Berlin for the closing set of our first party in 2019.

Radio Buttons #55 - The Lady Machine

Dirty Daddy Don's signature darkroom sound slides in from hard-hitting house to seductive techno; he comes equipped with a filthy selection of tracks and a fun, shameless attitude. A resident of DUMP, Berlin's bi-monthly trashfest at the sex club Untertage, Dirty Daddy Don has exploited his addiction to commanding the dance floor and shown versatility in seducing dancers at all hours of the night.

@dirtydaddydon also recently co-launched TRHANS, a trans-identified network and community-driven project hoping to connect artists, promote talent and create change amongst club-goers.  We look forward to seeing him + TRHANS opening up for The Black Madonna on the opening night of WHOLE Festival this summer (June 14, 2019).  

DDD will play after Sapphire Slow's live set in the wintergarden tent Saturday morning, April 20, 7:00-11:00 for Buttons Passion.

Kirill Shapovalov is an artist, creator and inspirer of the eclectic electronic project Haute Dance in St. Petersburg (Russia), young extravagant DJ known for artistic behaviour in his sets. Shapovalov is resident DJ of the main queer party in Russia, Popoff Kitchen (Moscow).
