Radio Citizen is a project by mastermind Niko Schabel and a changing group of musicians from Munich and Berlin, including on this recording the "classic" horn section with Teresa Gruber and Wolfi Schlick, Klaus Janek on double bass and the brilliant drummer Julian Waiblinger.

Upper Class

This is the recording of the Radio Citizen concert on the 30th of August 2014 at the Jazzfest Brandenburg - a good document where the band is at.

Starting off with an Ethiopian-inspired tune (and a little surprise in the middle), featuring the alltime RC classic The Hop, bowing to Neneh Cherry and The Thing in Calypso and rocking a piece of saturnian acid metal flash jazz, it ends with a Mal Waldron song crossed with lyrics by the godfathers of spoken word, the Last Poets.

"Found & Remixed" brings us some nice remixes and versions of the 2023 Radio Citizen album „Lost & Found“ which featured songs recorded around 2000 to 2010.

„Upper Class“ gets a makeover with an electronic drum machine, deep bass and, straight from the archive, Julian Waiblingers live drums. The big horn section and the wild flute solo by Wolfi Schlick stay the same, making it a felicitours cover of the 1993 Poets Of Rhythm classic.
