Why do certain sounds cultivate a cult following? Simply put, it's often because they resist easy consumption. PLO Man and his imprint Acting Press lean into this. 

Searching for the Berlin-based DJ and producer, you won’t find much online presence, interviews or conventional PR. What you will find, if you look hard enough, is a catalogue of records and mixes with a kind of tape hiss charm (a spiritual successor to Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, but scuzzier and lighter on its feet).

Founded in 2015, Acting Press once seemed to belong to the short-lived "outsider house" trend, but is now synonymous with a certain strain of modern minimal, one that is analogue, spacious and pointedly opaque. PLO Man's output is equally sparse by design: this week, he joins the RA Podcast with a characteristically elusive style, accompanying the near two-hour mix is a one-answer Q&A that gives almost nothing away.

Stripped-back, ever-so-slightly sleazy and coated in dust, PLO Man's RA Podcast continues that lineage in style. Opening with the featherlight microhouse of Margaret Dygas, RA.988 unfolds into a carefully curated spectrum of minimal, dub and deep techno. Among familiar names—look out for the blinding Rhythm & Sound and Moodymann blend—are deep cuts and left turns alongside the odd outlier, like lovers' rock pioneer Gregory Isaacs.

Prog Realm Takeover w/ Hamatsuki @ Radio Panini (26.07.2025)

Prog Realms excellent takeover is seen off by the boss, Crisco. Opening on a bang with that one Alvar tune, this one's a joyride. It's a mix laced by that edgy contemporary interpretation of deep - minimal progressive trance pioneered by labels like Junction Forest. Atmospheric, weird, relentlessly driven, it's a showcase of the style pushing ‘prog’ forward to its outer, grittier edges. Tip. 


Prog Realm Takeover w/ Crisco @ Radio Panini (26.07.2025)

On Thursday night Behrang Mohmmadi (@behrangmohammadi) delivered a texturally screwed mix of 4x4 club sonics. Setting a well paced momentum into the night, its 3 hours blending warping techno and generally off kilter dynamics into a cohesive and effortlessly eccentric ride. A mix-as-expression of diverse methods in movement.

Prog Realms Georgian handshake begins via Giorgi Pipia. The Left Bank resident helms an hour of new-wave logics, a kind of slow-rumbling excursion through electronic and industrial funk soundtracked cores mixed in with British avant-garde, electro, and acid. Proper music really. Includes bits from Code Industry, Oppenheimer Analysis, and Fad Gadget, amongst others.

For Prog Realm comes another of Left Bank’s resident selectors, DALI, rounding out the collab by laying forth an hour of tweaked-out high-nrg EBM / Electro / Leftfield and all the stuff in between. It's a seriously selected hour, twin parts ecstatic and nostalgic interpretation of the present. Includes bits from Teqmun and Adam Curtain to Code Industry and Odopt.
