LES YEUX FERMÉS invitent SAM KULAGA (DUMA)

Les yeux fermés proposent des concerts dans l’obscurité, sans écrans ni téléphones portables, avec un dispositif d’écoute immersif pour mieux se perdre dans le son et renouer avec une expérience intime et collective.

Après des concerts à la Gaité Lyrique, au Lieu Unique (Nantes), la Fondation Beyeler (Basel) ou la SAT de Montréal, Les Yeux Fermés investissent les ondes de Rinse France pour une émission mensuelle de deux heures au cours de laquelle un(e) invité(e) aura carte blanche pour sélectionner une heure de musique à écouter dans l’obscurité, la première heure étant sélectionnée par Guillaume Sorge, le directeur artistique du projet.

Cette émission sans parole vous proposera une géographie sonore de l’intime, sélectionnée par des artistes issu(e)s d’horizons divers - pas forcément des musiciens - ayant en commun un rapport très particulier à la musique.

A. Certo is an alias of Artūras Čertovas, a sonic storyteller and artist working with space. His sets are soulful and psychedelic, balancing between light and dark, naked and driven by constant change. His oeuvre as a DJ is playing an important part in his spiritual journey.

Originally coming from Vilnius and currently based in Brussels. He played in places like Camping 58 (Brussels), Arkaoda (Berlin), Gifgrond (Tilburg), Draugu Vardai (Vilnius), Les Ateliers Claus (Brussels), Sodas2123 (Vilnius), Casino (Luxembourg), Akee (Aleknaičiai village). His Radio appearences includes independed stations like Kiosk Radio, Lyl Radio, Radio Vilnius and Mutant Radio.

OUTOFMIXES 002 A. Certo

Here's to celebrate incoming total solar eclipse. They say once in a lifetime experience. Although apparently there are obsessives who travel around the globe to capture the celestial veiling like those two surfers chasing their big wave in "The Endless Summer". Here in Montréal we are in the path of "totality". Meaning there's going to be the nocturnal effect, temperature drop and stellar corona. How amazing is that? I thought it's worth commemorating with some topical musical accompaniment. I'll call it "Songs To The Black Sun".

There's the contemplative part and the fun part. The former is the first half which I decided is for celestial bodies alignments. Cosmogonic experimentalism, solar-winded overtone singing, stormy pagan folk (on cello), lopsided minimalisms (pleasingly non-American), celestial gamelan and spacey ambiances. I think I describe it correctly.

The second half is post-alignment entertaintments. With refrescados of your choice. Crowdpleasers include pre-startdom My Bloody Valentine with fabulously entitled "Kiss The Eclipse"; etherealized goth theatrics by Dead Can Dance, Einsturzende Neubauten and Coil; endearingly silly early 90s bleep house and jazzy vapours by Mr. Robert Wyatt. 𝓛'𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓾𝓻 𝓼𝓪𝓾𝓿𝓪𝓰𝓮 in April is about being alone, "mutterseelenallein", about loneliness and empty places, about drifting around in the wild and shimmering realms of solitude. Words and poems of this episode are by Paul Celan, Maggie Nelson, The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, Denys Renaudin's Investigation of a Haunting case in Paris in 1979, my friend's friend Jess and by myself. 

The Artwork is part of Goya's Los Caprichos. Los Caprichos is a set of 80 prints in aquatint and etching created by the Spanish artist in 1797–1798, and published as an album in 1799. The prints were an artistic experiment: a medium for Goya's condemnation of the universal follies and foolishness in the  society in which he lived.
