P Money & Gappy Ranks - 'The Baddest'

An international collaboration of prolific proportions, one of New Zealand’s most iconic producers, P-Money, has joined forces with beacon of British reggae Gappy Ranks to release the Baddest EP on June 6. The unlikely pair were introduced following dancehall dynasty Gappy Ranks’ performance at local reggae festival Raggamuffin. That email intro by a mutual friend culminated in the long distance production of first single off the EP of the same name, ‘Baddest’ – entirely over the web. The dynamic duo finally met for the first time on set for a video shoot for the track – a video which dropped tvia a premiere on Large Up. Filmed in Melbourne and directed by Tim McCartney, the Japanese-police-car-featured, fire-friendly flick, with even friendlier dancers, lives up to the title track’s name. It’s badass. It’s also a track that pricked the ears of some prominent supporters, including legendary DJ Max Glazer, Bobby Konders of New York radio station’s Hot 97 and Jillionaire of Major Lazer, with the heat the single received prompting the full-blown collaboration. Recording the EP together at the Red Bull Studio in Auckland, the final product is a package that can be uniquely stamped with both P-Money’s impeccable craft and Gappy’s golden take on modern dance hall.

•	On the cusp of homelessness when his career began, Gappy Ranks has now risen to carry the torch for UK reggae. With a little nod to the nineties and artists such as Maxi Priest and Bitty McLean, the self-proclaimed Grandson of Reggae is now three albums deep, with his latest full-length album ‘Shining Hope’ released in 2013. 

•	Following his signing to Duck Down Music in 2013, P-money released his first album through the label, Gratitude, last year. The album features a host of veteran hip-hop emcees such as Havoc, M.O.P, Freddie Gibbs, and Roc Marciano, to name a few. P-Money also has an up-coming project with US rapper Buckshot – who co-founded Duck Down – in the form of a full-length album BackPack Travels, due for release on 24 June, 2014.

After moving to London he began his career in street battle rap contests and freestyle sessions, shortly after he decided to take music further, writing lyrics and beat making. He combines his cultural heritage to explore different genres; mixing a UK Afrobeat/Rap vibe with a Portuguese touch, this has made him a very unique Artist.

His latest Song “Just Like That” features Apollo G a well-known name in the Portuguese music scene Produced by Young Max and visuals by Afrodigital,
The song is a mixture of the Uk afroBashment and Kizomba .The song was recorded in London Peacock Gym Studios and the video was shot in Portugal.
