ABSORBED on LYL Radio, aired February 13 2025

The latest contribution to the label’s ongoing @lyl_radio residency comes from brilliant mark-maker and dear friend, Mary MacDougall. 

I properly met Mary through @3rd-space while piecing together the Third Space release last year, for which she created that beautiful, beautiful chalk pastel artwork that you see on the cover. Later, at our little ‘dot points’ launch at Bard’s Apothecary, she played an hour or so of recorded music ~ all was as she is ~ warm and thoughtful. Her debut DJ set, and the first (& only) time I’ve seen it done on an iPad 😅

Others will know Mary’s art practice, writing, or the keyboards, voice and tape music she makes with MP Hopkins as Warm Currency / @warmcurrency. I listen to ‘Wash Nothing’ from the new album all the time. I’d also recommend checking out The Bowles— her prior art band that put out an EP on Graham Lambkin’s now-defunct label, Kye, in the mid-00s.

Here, she shares some recent listening journeys—whimsical and many-sided. It’s very much its own thing but I know Con Pani fans will appreciate and listen again & again.  For those who want more than this peek, Mary will also being joining us at ABSORBED on the Saturday, sharing music again but possibly singing along too. For now, tune in and drift.

Radio 80000 is a non-commercial online radio from Munich and was founded in April 2015. It functions as a platform, promoting collaboration and cultural expression through music, dialogue and events throughout Germany. Currently more than 160 contributors regularly broadcast shows from Munich, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Hamburg and Vienna.

At Radio 80000, established and emerging musicians, DJs and artists as well as music enthusiasts without any professional ambitions engage in what has become an intensive exchange – offering a unique selection of timeless and contemporary music, with quality always being the top priority.

Since its foundation, the radio has grown into a network that unites individuals, leading to new collaborations between artists, labels and institutions inter/nationally.

Since March 2022 our studio is located at the Zirka.Space in Munich.
