what we find episode sixteen featuring somethingmaker - Based in Saigon (HCMC), Vũ is a multidisciplinary artist working across sound, poetry, visual arts. His sound focuses on the atmospheric, an ecosystem between the speakers. Insect-like tendencies, air and water, organic and non-organic blur together. He co-organizes Tắm Đêm_nightswim, a fluid platform for sound, poetry, and performance. His poetry and photography appeared in Noone Magazine issue 2 (Netherlands), and he has exhibited in group shows across Vietnam.

For this edition, he has prepared an unreleased hour of music. A series of slow morning movements, sonic sketches of environmental sounds and soft melodies, as fragile as insect wings.

Somethingmaker's music has made regular features on past what we find shows, so it's a pleasure to now welcome him onto the series to share an hour of unreleased music recorded in early 2025.

Dr Fetch joins us on this month’s episode of Audio Forage on Area 3000. Dr Fetch is one of those DJs that seamlessly manages to incorporate all the sounds you love whilst introducing you to ones that you didn’t know you needed.

This is a truly expansive mix. Spanning just 60 minutes, we could’ve easily listened to it over the course of a whole day. The unique blend of textures and rhythm creates an ease to the listening where nothing is forced and the listener is rewarded for patience and attentiveness. We hope you liked this one as much as we did... we know you will.

Abundance Awakened

Synthesisers, electric bass, instrumental jam.

A quick experiment built from a pair of Oblique Strategies cards:

“Honour thy error as a hidden intention” / “Just carry on”

This track started as an improvised bass demo over a simple low-note loop meant to replace a click track. I accidentally recorded four mismatched fingerboard-taps while trying to sketch a candombe-style groove — and instead of deleting them, I looped them across the whole piece. The synth layers were added later to make the odd bass/percussion hybrid loop actually work.

Loose playing, strange chord ideas, and all the imperfections left in on purpose. A fun morning session that I may revisit later.

"We are at the beginning of something new that will mean a long process both individually and collectively.
