After the latest Twoonky release, Macadam Mambo welcomes another Italian artist on the label : Steve Pepe. 
Behind his first release « Danza Moderna » on Hivern disc last year and few apparences before, Manuel Cascone (his real name) seems pretty new in the modern electronic scene, but don’t worry, he is not falling from Mars and has been part of several bands in Roma before, which made his experience in New Wave, Pop, Abstract, Experimental sounds very diverse. And it’s maybe why what he presents today on this 2xLP has such a singular approach in mixing genres and styles with high inspiration. It’s tribal, mental, powerful, full of percussions, flutes, voices and weird electronic sounds, everything in a very cinematographic form to bring us in the most dramaturgical trip.
Be certain that 2020 will definitely be the year of the revelation for Steve Pepe!

Better late than never!!!

December was so busy for me I never got round to doing the end of year mixes that I hoped to do.

I managed to record this one on Saturday night there, fuelled by some leftover Drambuie. It's by no means the "best of 2019" (I bought way too many records this year to call 1 hour and 45 mins the "best") but it's certainly some of my favourite new dance music of the year. The mix was completely unplanned and none of the tracks mixed together ever before and things seem to have gone in a far more "banging" direction than I envisaged. I blame Optimo Digitial Danceforce for that - they feature about four times (!!). Conversely, notable omissions from the mix are some of my most played tracks - but I felt I'd featured them in previous radio shows, mixes and live DJ sets too many times to want to regurgitate them here and felt doing something fresh was really the main point.

Anyway, for all those dancefloor hard hitters of 2019, hats off to Serenades, Discos Capablanca, DFA, Optimo Music (+ affiliates), Malka Tuti, Hivern Discs, Brokntoys, Multi Culti, Knekelhuis, Motordiscs, Crowdspacer, Microdosing, Kompakt, Highlife, Technicolour, Calypso, Ombra International, Donkey Milk, Phase Group, Disco Halal, Antinote, Lumiere Noire, I'm a Cliché/Edit Service, Hard Fist, Notte Brigante, Phantasy Sound, Snap Crackle & Pop, Chambre Noire, Dim Din, Ongehoord, Flippen Disks, Tigersushi, Spin On This and all those I've forgotten or who've sent me unsigned promos/demos.

If I get the chance I'll try and do a best of non-dance music mix too before 2021 - some superb stuff on Macadam Mambo, Pingipung, Hoga Nord and many others that deserve an airing.
