Ryck from Berne is one of the core-founders of the Bern Bass Podcast and started DJing in 1997 after being bitten by the Drum&Bass bug at the local United Tribes Raves. He was struck by the sounds and energy of Goldie’s „Timeless“, the relentless bassline rollers of the ever-prolific Full Cycle crew and DJs like Randall, Micky Finn and LTJ Bukem. An avid Junglist and nerdy record collector until this day, he got his first gig at the Lighters-series in 2002 after years of sweating blood & tears practising on the Technics 1210s. Known today for his varied, unpredictable selection with a heavy nod to the oldschool, over the years he played at most major Swiss D&B events such as Bierhübeli and Darkside at Dachstock in Berne or Bassride at Rohstofflager and Mute in Zürich. As a producer, he released collaborative tracks on Soul Deep, Inform and Sun and Bass Recordings. After being in involved in RaBass 95.6, a monthly Drum&Bass show on Berne alternative radio RaBe for over ten years, he was asked to co-promote and continue the Liquid Session series at Dachstock in Berne in 2015, hosting a broad variety of international acts in the deeper realm of D&B as well as showcasing young and older local talent. As a continuation of the idea of our podcast, Ryck launched the Bandcamp-only Bern Bass Records label to feature Swiss producers exclusively in 2020 with the first releases by Simstah, OctaState and Dayni - more to come soon, stay tuned and check out the Bandcamp page:

Dj Trax put together another phenomenal mix for part 2 of The Moving Shadow mix series!! This mix was very melodic, showcasing deep, jazzy, melodic tunes, and uplifiting vocals. This mix proves why Moving Shadow was such a great and influential label and why Dj Trax is a great dj!!

Lets meet our dj for this week, Dj Trax:

I started Drumming at 7, DJing at 12 and at 15 I formed the hip hop group Mixrace with two MC`s (Dev Paradox + Leke Aerosoul.) I released my first track a year later in (1991) on Brain Records. In the same year myself and Dev signed to Moving shadow. Over the next 3 years I released Solo 12"s on Shadow under DJ Trax and Joint releases under Mixrace. In 94 we set up 5 record companies with Scott W and Gary S Stronghold, Mixrace Productions, Offset, Nautilus+ Mobhanded. Myself and Paradox released a couple of dozen 12"s on the labels, both solo, and duo (under Brown + Dangerman.) We also collaborated with Hyper On Experience. From 97 to 2003 I mainly focused on downbeat/leftfield music. I released an album and two 12"s on LaCerba/3mv as well as releasing on Goodlooking, Kriztal, Mole, Beats + Pieces and Hed Kandi. I also Remixed Kutis Blow The Breaks! From 2003 to 2010 I have released a further two albums 1,000 Pictures + Thoughts In Widesceen which was on the front cover on Knowledge Magazine. I've also released on Outsider Music, Ociris, Subtle Audio, Omni Music, Tempo, Paradox Music, OSR, Subvert Central,Crisis,Misspent Music, Syncopathic Recordings and my own label Audio Buffet. I have released a series of EP`s with US Hip Hop group, Assorted Anonymous and have a Full album with AA coming very soon. Alongside the releases, I've also written music for many TV/Multimedia projects and Scored for the Feature Film, Shifty. Ive dj`d and have run nights through out this time.

Hello all you beautiful people out there!! Welcome to episode 392 of The Everyday Junglist Podcast!

Episode 392 brings us a mix from a talented dj/producer out of the Netherlands, Yorobi!

Yorobi has collaborated with Tim Reaper on 2 firing releases on the labels Discworld and Parallax Recordings, one of which I am happy to say I own on vinyl:) Drumtree, what a tune! In addition to her releases, Yorobi hosts a bi-weekly show on jungletrain.net, Sunday's from 5-7 pm GMT, for us Americans on EST, that's 1-3 pm. The show is entitled, Polyclinique Redux, the next show will air on Sunday, August 9th, so, you better check it out!

Yorobi's mix is summertime, soulful vibes, melding old school tunes with newer, forthcoming tracks! The razor sharp breaks combining with heavy amens to mash things up! Check the track list for a new Yorobi tune in the pipeline! Yorobi crushes this mix!

Let's meet our selectah for this mix, Yorobi:
Yorobi (real name Josje Bijl) is an Amsterdam based dj who started out dj-ing in the 1999 after getting introduced to a pirate radio station (Nautic  Radio Groningen) in her home town of Groningen. 
What started out as hosting for a pirate radio station and getting well known dj’s to talk about their careers and random party goers to express inner ruminations, turned into her buying some records and to practice dj-ing in the studio of the radio station and at friends who had mk1210’s. 
Josje got her own show at the local pirate station and the shows focused strongly on Drum and Bass, Hip Hop & Electro, inviting guests from all over town and occasionally hosting the odd internationally known dj.  She debuted as a dj in the basement of Vera (a club in Groningen).  After that she played all over the country alongside local and internationally known dj’s , as well as in the UK & in Belgium.  In 2006 she relocated to http://jungletrain.net/ , where she’s still broadcasting her bi-weekly live show. 
You can catch her live in various bars and clubs around Amsterdam, mainly at OT301, Hill Street Blues, Melkweg, Hunters Grand Café or an illegal rave somewhere outdoors. She can be found more and more around Europe these days. This year she’s played in London for the legendary Rupture night as well as for a night called Deviate in Berlin. 
Yorobi’s style is fairly eclectic, ranging from introspective half time to (old skool & future) jungle, footwork & slowfast. Basically anything with heavily syncopated drums, lush pads and heavy bass lines. 
2020 sadly saw the cancellations of most of her gigs, but on the positive side also her debut as a producer, with two colabs being released on Parallax Recordings and Disc World alongside Tim Reaper.
