Rock On

Hailing originally from Rocket City – Huntsville, Alabama, home of the massive Saturn V rocket that had blasted 33 astronauts into space a decade earlier – roared a gang of insouciant iconoclasts known as rádioberlin, whose infectious songs defined the heart of New Wave and whose hair defied the laws of sensibility. radioberlin was operating in a musical arena dominated by heavy rock and the SoCal stylings of yacht rock. Despite operating in this cultural morass, radioberlin doggedly pursued its own style. This collection of songs - recorded for the most part in Small World and Sound Cell Studios in Huntsville - illustrates why radioberlin drew the attention of major labels. 

Although the tantalizing label deal did not materialize, radioberlin carried on throughout the 80s, rocking the Southeastern U.S. and the Caribbean. Members included a host of characters: Niki Berlin, Clay Broussard, Jeff Collier, Stan Hisaw, Jeff Florreich, Sammy Whittington, Larry Gambrill, Benny Magill, Jeff Robertson, Tommy Lucas, JoJo Rickles, and Kelli Trechsel. As membership changed over the years, radioberlin’s ethos was unwavering: hit ‘em hard and leave ‘em smiling.
