IndieRE (formerly RadioMuse) is a weekly music program broadcast on dozens of radio stations in Europe. More than a program, Independent Radio Exchange - IndieRE - is a European cooperation project between free and student radio stations. The goal is to facilitate the circulation of emerging music, new talent and their works.
An editorial cooperation

Renewed for the 2022-2024 season, IndieRE is growing and brings together one of the largest communities of independent and associative radio stations in Europe. Our radio stations wish to make their listeners hear and discover emerging, current and alternative music that they would not hear anywhere else. Nearly 300 musical projects will be highlighted during all IndieRE seasons. The other objective is to encourage editorial cooperation between independent radio stations and to multiply the exchanges between professionals or enlightened amateurs of current music invested in each of our radio stations. Thus in addition to the radio programs, residences of journalists are planned during the season.

For this IndieRE 2.0 edition, eight structures are actively involved in this borderless action: Radio Študent in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Radio Student Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia, Radio Corax in Halle, Germany, Radio Helsinki in Graz, Austria, Civil Radio in Budapest, Hungary, EMA-RTV in Seville, Spain, Near FM in Dublin, Ireland and Radio Campus France, the Campus radio network. The project is supported by the European program Europe Creative. The other radios are also working in a network, so the programs will be broadcasted in different regions of the participating countries.

The radio programs

This new version of the project continues its momentum, with regular broadcasting from February 2023 to October 2024. The radio contents of the European partners will be co-broadcast on a weekly basis. Two program formats: a magazine presenting the music scene of a city in Europe supported by a local radio. Interviews with musicians and labels and of course listening to new music will be part of the program. Finally, a mini-format called Featured Song, a short sound and music format to be found in the radio stations' programming.

In addition, to facilitate the accessibility mainly to European listeners, these programs are produced in English.

À l’aube de la sortie de son nouvel album ‘Les Délivrés’, prolongement de sa bande-son illustrant ce poignant documentaire sur la lutte des coursiers à vélos des grandes plateformes, Maxime Dangles dévoile ‘Matin Bleu’.

Entré par la grande porte des musique électroniques il y a 15 ans sur le label Kompakt, collectionnant les remixes de prestige (Moby, Green Velvet, Simian Mobile Disco, Kittin & The Hacker…), Maxime Dangles est une référence de la scène électronique internationale, réputé pour son sound design immersif et singulier qu’il façonne avec ses synthés modulaires. Mais depuis 4 ans, Maxime Dangles a ralenti les dates en club pour se consacrer à ce type de création, à la spatialisation du son, dans des lieux comme la référence en la matière la SAT de Montreal et au projet arts et sciences SONARS aux côtés des chercheurs du CNRS qui l’embarquent au coeur de leurs recherches sur les îles de Saint-Pierre et Micquelon.

Nourri des sentiments des protagonistes du documentaire tels que la lutte, la colère, le stress, l’aliénation ou l’espoir, Maxime Dangles signe ici une bande-son militante qui prolonge le combat des Délivrés de manière poétique entre IDM, electronica et ambient. Avec ‘Matin Bleu’, ce sont ici l’espoir et le rêve d’une vie meilleure qui sont traduits avec ce morceau électronica contemplatif et mélancolique mélangeant des notes de piano délicates et sensibles à son modulaire si singulier qui a fait sa marque de fabrique. Un crossover de musique électronique et contemporaine qui rappelle les dernières compositions de Yann Tiersen. 

L’album ‘Les Délivrés’ sera disponible en vinyle et digital le 17 février sur Lifeguards - nouveau sous label d’Astropolis Records, et Maxime Dangles présentera en avant-première son nouveau live sur Astropolis l’Hiver le samedi 11 février accompagné d’une création vidéo inspirée par le documentaire et orchestrée par Dylan Cote du collectif OYE, avec qui Maxime Dangles a déjà collaboré à la prestigieuse SAT de Montréal.

Le vinyle sera distribué par Bigwax et tous les bénéfices seront reversés à Utopia 56, association humanitaire venant en aide aux personnes exilées et à toute personne en détresse en France. Depuis 2015, l’association est présente à Calais pour apporter une aide matérielle d’urgence et dénoncer les violations des droits humains et violences policières et au gré de nombreuses actions dans toute la France. Maraudes, distribution, hébergement solidaire, l’association apporte une aide d’urgence sur le terrain pour les publics vulnérables et particulièrement les mineur.e.s non accompagné.e.s.

In the 45th edition of IndieRe we looked back at some of the exciting and prominent music releases and production of Slovenia’s alternative and independent music scene. First release presented is from our own record label ZARŠ: Various artist compilation Klubski maraton 2022, where we present different fresh or undiscovered artists and bands that are part of the Klubski maraton project in the year 2022. Next we highlighted an audiovisual trio Etceteral, a experimental electronic and jazz project that released an album Rhizome with Glitterbeat Records and we also spoke with Boštjan Simon a member of the group. Then we presented a shoe-gaze band Haiku Garden and their newest release Loose Contacts / Tense Present at KAPA Records. After we had an experimental techno duo Stagnat, followed by an interview with both producers Nina Lang and Peter Kalinski that are also co-funders of a local digital record label DE/FRAGMENT. We talked about 2 releases: A compilation of various artists from the DE/FRAGMENT label and their own release Subterranean Occurrence.  Next we spotlighted a hip hop artist, singer and dancer Sahareya with her self-released debut Improvised Colors and last but now least, we presented a various artist compilation Clockwork voltage compilation vol.1 - Happy Little Voltages (self-released), that is connecting a community of diverse enthusiasts of modular synthesizers.

INDIE-RE #49 BY RADIO STUDENT, ZAGREB, CROATIA

In the 49th episode of IndieRe broadcast edited by Radio Student from Zagreb we will present some fresh releases by well-known members of Zagreb alternative scene but we will also showcase few artists currently at the very beginning of their musical path. The first one is indie pop rock band Paul The Walrus from Zagreb – we will hear the interview with their singer, song writer and producer Borna Mijolović who will present their first album Sunset Clause released last autumn and first time played live this February. The next one is Seine, an indie punk band whose latest album Naizust was among the most interesting releases of the last year showing new directions of experimenting with electronics and trip hop genre. The show continues with psychedelic progressive band Skotni Vrag and after that we will present our next guest. He is Toni Starešinić from Zmaj Orko Star, a band of three experienced jazz musicians well-known from different jazz, world music and organic club music projects from Zagreb. Their first album Escape was released in December and Toni will tell us more about this layered instrumental record and the inspirations behind it’s playful song titles. At the end of the show we will present a project called Panakota and their second single Vodnjak from the upcoming shoegaze indie pop EP that will be released in the following months.

The 51st episode of IndieRe is brought to you by Near FM in Dublin, produced and presented by Neil Farrelly. In this episode we showcase some of the best up and coming Irish artists. Ireland is currently a hot bed of acts breaking through internationally, from Fontaines DC, Gilla Band and The Murder Capital, to Sorcha Richardson, Lankum and Lisa O’Neill, there are new artists from all genres making waves all the time. Here we showcase some bands we think are great and you will also hear more about into the future. They hail from all over Ireland, and represent a multicultural and diverse Ireland. The artists include Sprints, Felispeaks, Rory Sweeney, Actualacid, Rex Arcum, Thee U.F.O., Krypton Bulb, Aoife Wolf, Fizzy Orange, Jam Hades and Pretty Happy. There are also interviews with Andy Marke from the Dublin based label, Fuzzed Up, and with Marco from the band Jam Hades.

We’ve got new music from Dublin-based producer Hannah Worrall aka SPOOKLET. ‘AH SHIT’ is a left-field leaning piece of punk-soaked UK techno as the newcomer blurs the lines between glitchy electronica, grime, and hard-edged UK sounds.

We welcome SPOOKLET to our Four Four Premiere series with a strong offering entitled ‘AH SHIT’. SPOOKLET was designed to delve into the depths of vulnerability, consume it, understand it, and grow old with it. She finds purpose in the amaranthine journey of self-discovery.

AH SHIT encapsulates the fiery essence of SPOOKLET. In this track, she is faced with a whirlwind of emotions when she realises that her desire for someone is not reciprocated. 

SPOOKLET unleashes a smoldering slice of genre-bending left-field electronica as she tells a story of romantic frustration and the liberation of emancipation. Hard-edged and broken low-end punches play off a haunting droning bass and sinisterly overdriven vocals. Crawling and swelling effects & beeps roll through poignant strings for a stirring trip through a harrowing bass-heavy experiment. A forceful introduction to the sounds of SPOOKLET.

Sa thèse porte sur le projet "La Rochelle Territoire zéro carbone" et s'interroge sur la façon dont l'art et les récits peuvent participer à la prise de conscience écologique et à la volonté d'agir. Elle a donc monté un projet de recherche-création et abouti à la pièce de théâtre "No/s future/s".

Astéréotypie en live au Festival Hop Pop Hop

Croiser le collectif Astéréotypie, ça secoue. Ça fait bouger les jambes quand ça s’élance, ça désarticule les bras à chaque scansion ou rupture de tempo, ça fait hurler en chœur à s’en froisser les cordes vocales et ça fracasse les a priori pour peu qu’il en reste.

Derrière Astéréotypie se cachent Yohann, Stanislas, Aurélien, Claire et Félix, l’homme de l’ombre. Combo né en 2010 au sein d’un Institut médico-éducatif des Hauts-de-Seine lors d’un atelier d’écriture et de poésie, ce groupe étonnant multiplie les paroles atypiques et les phrasés lunaires qui aimantent l’oreille sur un genre de post-punk énergique tirant parfois sur le garage-rock ou le noisy.

Astéréotypie en live | L!VE CAMP au Festival Hop Pop Hop

Figure de la scène angevine depuis plus de 15 ans ans, Nerlov a officié dans une longue liste de groupes (Sheraf, VedeTT, San Carol…) et dans une grande variété de styles avant se de lancer tout naturellement en solo, sous son nom, en 2020. Son nouvel album "Pas Si Grave", avec son électro pop danseuse et raffinée chantée en français sortira en mai 2024.

Les ​Radios Campus sont des espaces d’expérimentation assumée. Partenaire du festival d’Avignon dans le cadre des « Ateliers de la Pensée », les Radios Campus chahutent la création sonore et questionnent le lien fraternel entre théâtre et radio. Après trois jours d’ateliers sonores en prise directe avec le Festival. Programme enregistré le 20 juillet 2017 en direct du site Louis Pasteur à Avignon.

Notre présence au Festival est une opportunité d’ouvrir plusieurs voies créatives, pour les membres des radios comme pour les auditeurs-trices, trop peu souvent initiées sur les ondes. : celle de la création sonore et du lien historique entre radio et théâtre.

Une équipe bénévole travaillera à l’écriture et à la production de pièces sonores. Originales, ludiques et créatives, elles seront le résultat d’ateliers radiophoniques menés avec nos invités. Nous avons ainsi convié celles ou ceux qui composent en partie la programmation du festival d’Avignon à venir contribuer, à leur manière, à l’élaboration des contenus sonores.

Ces ateliers, sur la base d’entretien sur place et d’un temps en intérieur ou extérieur, seront enregistrés et constitueront la matière sonore qui permettra à l’équipe de travail de réaliser des pièces sonores sur des formes et des thèmes pré-définis: « Verbe & Démocratie », « Jeunesse en Errance », Europe VS Guerre » ainsi qu’un autre thème tout aussi réflexif. Les meilleurs pièces seront alors présentés lors d’une émission en direct et en publique sur le plateau du site Louis Pasteurs le 20 juillet 14:30. Egalement en direct des radios Campus de France et sur la webradio de ce même site internet.
