‘For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Music is an anchor in life, useable in any if not every scenario to shift or change your current mood. It's something that you have complete control of (unless you’re in someone else’s car), this control, I find is somewhat taken for granted every now and then and I think in this strange time of our lives it's very important to take control of what you can. Speaking of control, it's something our next guest has mastered, A Naarm favourite Bex. 

Hard work, dedication, and a belief in one's self are the holy trinity to the path of evolution, All of these factors Bex has mastered. Through years and years of commitment to her craft, Bex has steeled herself amongst her peers and their dance floors, forever increasing her orbit and her listeners inside of it. Encompassing the pure aesthetics of Dj’ing (an understanding of rhythm and how people react to it), she has cemented herself as a staple DJ all across Naarm as well pushing the same ethos with her own party series “Spincycle” (HOT TIP!!). She’s here to stay and it fills me with confidence for the future. 

The mix itself beautifully encompasses the very thing I’ve set out to explore, the other side. For someone who is consistently filling dance floors, you can tell Bex has done herself justice in reaching into her musical peripherals and wholeheartedly enjoyed doing it. Ecstatic trips into euphoria electronica, A consistent theme explored in its whole, done masterfully. Computer-generated soul at its finest, using BPM as a narrative tool, she takes us on a trip through her own mind, leaving no stone unturned. After countless play-throughs, I still find little details that excite me, her technical skills on full display for the world to see. A perfect summary of Bex herself. Enjoy it every way you can.

Noizar is a Ukranian DJ recently relocated to Amsterdam. He is the owner of the vinyl-only label Wicked Bass, on which he releases records from both Ukrainian and international talents. His style is uniquely sharp and groovy – behind the decks he shows a key focus on detailed performances, from the selections to his technical abilities.

DOWN BY THE RIVER #11 Pt.1 By Little Lu

Shanti Celeste is one of those artists whose personality matches her DJ style. Her fun-loving nature and breezy demeanour always light up a room, as do her vibrant sets that span sunny house music, slow-burning disco and emotive techno. Fresh off her Hessle Audio debut, the London-based artist sat down with RA's Martha Pazienti-Caidan for an honest chat about track selection, bad gigs and her approach to production.

During DJ sets, the Peach Discs co-founder doesn’t like to focus on genres. Instead, "I think about, like, building and releasing tension and making sure that I stay in a specific energy level," she explained. "Whereas before, I think I knew the energy I wanted to bring, but I didn't know how to do that cause I was just thinking about everything in terms of genre."

Reaching this holistic stage, however, took time. It was a process of acquiring knowledge and experience but also confidence, she described, adding how she previously had "really bad imposter syndrome." Learning to deal with bad gigs and recognising that certain factors might be outside an artist’s control are essential to self-realisation, she continued. Going on to discuss her experience of playing big festival stages, she noted the importance of "learning what side of yourself to channel" rather than compromise on music.

EX.628 Shanti Celeste

Part of Uruguay's burgeoning Phonoteque family, Stonem is as uncompromising in his sound as he is in his DJ sets. Square wave basslines, raged synths and room filling drums all feed into his sound palette. Out of the blocks with a bang his first forays into the world of production found their home on Phonoteque, that was back in 2019 and he has been a firm fixture with them since.

The man from Montevideo makes it his goal to seek out the gnarliest sounds and jaw clenching breakbeats. All packaged up in a tightly woven journey that has now dipped into the stratosphere of our InSession series. From more downtempo beginnings Stonem quickly finds his pace and tone and the rest is for you to explore. Zap filled, electro goodies are to be found at the corner of every mix and it is little wonder why he is so prized amongst a label full of legends.
