Dortmund hero Mr. Fries @mrfries is back on Alelah Records. The Lyon-based label, founded by LB aka LABAT, already featured Fries' works on two firsts VA releases.  

With "No Words", Mr. Fries delivers what he does best: a true house cut filled with a deep mystic atmosphere. It has that 'moodymann-esque' live-recorded production feeling, that smokey jazz club ambience, and we love it. Still, do not be worried, here we deal with a pure house track featuring a dynamic rhythm with afro influences leading the track throughout its 6 minutes. 

Another music blessing by the one and only Mr. Fries. Available on wax starting the April 19th. Do not miss it.

At the start of this year she got into vinyl — playing everything we have in our studio — and just a week later she smashed a vinyl set on our club night at Badehaus Berlin!

Better known for his work as one half of production and live duo, Christian Tiger School, Luc Veermeer ventures into new sonic territories with his first solo EP and debut on City Bowl Wax Network. “Perspective" finds Veermeer exploring a nuanced and emotional lo-fi house sound, ripe and ready for the South African summer. This 4 track EP showcases warm grooves and intimate pads, complemented by carefully crafted percussive intricacies. “Perspective" is rooted in a strong 90’s aesthetic, one that feels as nostalgic as it is timeless. Drawing influence from Hip Hop, Chicago house and Breakbeat, the EP also features a collaboration with past City Bowl contributor Ray Bennett.

Brooklyn’s HOMAGE delivers the ‘Post Meridian’ EP by Stranded this December, comprising six originals from the American artists.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, Stranded’s material blurs the lines between post-punk, house and nu-disco resulting in an amalgamation of sounds and something unexpected. Here we see Stranded deliver their latest works, entitled the ‘Post Meridian’ EP, via Brooklyn’s HOMAGE imprint, the ever-evolving imprint which often shines a light on undiscovered talents and obscure sounds from across the globe in many different pockets of electronic music.

Title-cut ‘Post Meridian’ leads, laying down shuffled drums, noodling strings, funk-infused bass and vintage synth sounds alongside hypnotic vocal lines. ‘Cherry Fortune’ then shines a light on Stranded’s post-punk, new wave influences with woozy guitars, elongated bass tones and washed out vocals. ‘Yesterday’s Silence’ follows, bringing things back to the dance floor via a swinging drum groove, spiralling guitar licks and intricately unfolding synth and vocal work.

Fellow Atlanta based artist Stefan Ringer steps up next to rework ‘Post Meridian’, stamping his own twist on things with dusty drum sounds and enchanting synth work ebbing and flowing around the heart of the original. ‘Glass Shock’ shifts focus over to gritty guitar tones, fuzzy vocals and bumpy drums next before ‘Canal Breaks’ then completes the package, embracing a contrastingly downtempo aesthetic with snaking bass grooves, surf rock-tinged psychedelia on the guitar elements and as the name would suggest break driven drums.
