"This mix was destined for the shelf in my opinion. As a DJ, I truly enjoy the craft of beat mixing and building moods through a mix that is more than the sum of its parts. When you strive for that and hit some unexpected high points but then miss something really simple along the way it is so frustrating. Sure, you can do re-takes or even edit the whole set after the fact, but that would mean admitting defeat on some level. I’ve re-used parts of this mix in other sets, so to put it on the shelf didn’t burden me in the slightest at first. Listening to it again some two years later, I can hear it with somewhat fresh ears and be more accepting of my few sloppy mistakes. It dawns on me that much of the music I enjoy has imperfections that adds a lot to the experience. This is the music I play, and I encourage everyone else working as a creative to take a second look at their shelf."
