We dug up a  recording from one of his last sets at the Monkey Loft and it's a masterclass on how to thread a narrative through many genres without losing the psychedelic plot. Solar will be kicking things off for Shameless' Thursday night summertime weekly rooftop party Deck'd Out at the Monkey Loft. Joining him will be Foxy McLeod along with  Innerflight residents Kadeejah Streets and Rhines.

I'm a sucker for a good trilogy so it was only a matter of time before I would come up with a follow up to "Hacienda High Times" from 2019 and "Hacienda Now Times" from 2021 - so, here we are. This is "Hacienda Chill Times", a fitting final chapter for my mixtapes dedicated to the unique spirit of the early rave days and that iconic club in Manchester. And while the first ones focussed on the floorfilling dance anthems, this one heads into more relaxed 'after hours' territory.

Over the past months I got a bit more obsessed with the cloudy synthpop of the early 90s which played a crucial part in my childhood. Lots of these tracks still had that grooving acid house DNA but in a ways softer and more subtle way so that's the vibe I was going for. The groove is obviously still there, just not in the limelight. And while the first two mixtapes separated the old from the new tracks I decided to mix them all together this time. So you get artists from the 90s heydays like The Shamen, New Order, The Beloved, Way Out West and Primal Scream right next to modern day stuff from Lone, Earth Boys, Peggy Gou, Swim Deep and Bicep. Different times, same vibe. It's the perfect final puzzle piece here, a trippy little summer breeze you can enjoy before and after the big party.

So for this Months Hidden Shadow I wanted to explore some of the records that have been luring around my bag for a while, looked for an opportunity to jump on the syncopated soul train. Before digging deep into minimal dubscapes from around the 44 minute mark, and a series of drum'n'bass classics and newbies (kickstarted by a rare 1999 Frédéric Galliano 10" from from around 1:05:30), let's establish a foundation of laid back, soulful reggae. Free assosiative eclectic mix, mostly on vinyl. Hope you like it.
