For our 25th mix we're welcoming Amsterdam based selector DJ Tracksuit, who's supplied an hour and a half of beautiful world rhythms.

We've known Tim for a few years, having linked up previously when he did a mix for our 24 hour Live For Love fundraiser livestream during lockdown. His music taste and knowledge runs seriously deep, and is a DJ we're consistently blown away by. This mix is no different, and shows off his style and versatility.

DJ Tracksuit says: "I’ve been wanting to record this mix for a while but had troubles with turntables, tonearms, needles and in general, a very busy 2022. The result is a full vinyl mix of (mostly) psychedelic and percussive grooves from some of my favourite musical countries (Guadeloupe, Cape Verde & Haiti). Starting at 75 or so BPM all the way up to well over double that in a bit less than an hour and a half. I can imagine an Apricot Ballroom party have a similar (but more stretched out) progression! Protest music, slow & fast Gwo Ka or Zouk, Compas, Carnaval music. It’s all in there, including some of my all time favourite songs. Episode #171 of Bside Podcasts warmly welcomes the Parisian producer/DJ/collector - LeonxLeon.

LeonxLeon was raised by a family with a passion for making music. His father was a sound engineer who built synthesizers with him, some of which he still uses that are uniquely built from scratch in the 70's. He became involved in the ever exciting Paris electronic music scene in the early 2000's via CBS/IntergalacticFM's database with a love for proto-house and italo-house. Since 2013 he has been producing and releasing EP's/ tracks / edits on Red Laser Records (Manchester) and Cracki Records (Paris) with heavy italo, acid, disco influences. Also an established DJ, he has been booked all over Europe and thrown parties across France with his crew - Les Yeux Orange who he also does the final mastering of their releases.

For his Bside Podcast we are treated to a fine selection of his extensive collection, except House, Italo, Jazz/Funk.

I was jamming with my TD-3 and found this pattern. I must have spend an hour just turning the nubs and enjoying this deep analog sound.
I had to make something nice out of it.

These words, simple as they may be, are the essence of everything. They rise up from my heart and return me to a place of stillness, of presence, of truth. They are enough.

I stand here, in the unfolding of my life, and I see how gratitude softens all edges, how it shapes each moment into something luminous. When I whisper thank you, the world reshapes itself — the struggles become teachers, the wounds become openings, and even the silence is filled with meaning.

In love, in loss, in the laughter of my children, in the quiet breath of the morning — thank you. For each meeting, for each parting, for every hand held and every tear shed. Thank you. For the questions I cannot answer, and for the mysteries that need no answer.



Section 2
We live in a world where everything asks us to hurry, to choose sides, to reduce ourselves to labels. But love, true love, is the refusal to shrink. It is the courage to stay open, to stay vast, to stay vulnerable in a world that teaches us to armor ourselves. I have learned that tenderness is a form of rebellion, and devotion is the most radical act of freedom.



Section 3
I believe in presence more than perfection. Presence is when you show up, unarmored, unedited, as you are. That is what makes intimacy possible — not the performance of being flawless, but the offering of being real. It is in our cracks, not our polish, that we recognize each other. It is where we are unfinished that love enters.



Section 4
Fundamentalism, whether in politics, religion, or even relationships, is the opposite of life. It is a narrowing. It fears ambiguity, nuance, the places where contradictions breathe. But we are not meant to be simple, we are meant to be infinite. We are both light and shadow, laughter and grief, certainty and doubt. To love is to hold all of it, without needing to resolve it into something smaller than it is.



Section 5
The more I live, the more I understand that death is not the opposite of life, but its mirror. It teaches us to stop waiting. To pour the wine, to kiss longer, to tell people what they mean to us now, not tomorrow. Mortality is not cruel; it is the teacher that reminds us of the urgency of tenderness.



Section 6
I have hit a confusing problem. I feel inside of me that I live 2 lives every day. I am a Gemini, but so is everyone. You feel 2 things every day — your physical body (food, clothes, exercise, nature, sun) — and you feed your psyche, your brain (radio, book). But most important is that it is not a choice. It is a human breath, a necessity.




Section 7
If I leave you with one truth, it is this: love is not something you find. It is something you choose, again and again, even when it is hard, even when you are tired, even when fear tells you to close. Choose love like a practice, like a prayer. That is the only way to stay free.
