Fred Aster ( @fredastermusic ) has been cementing his name in the underground deep house & electronic eclectic scene via his own, and acclaimed, production work, radio host duties and by leading one of the best African labels within the genre, Blur Records - an Angolan electronic music label established in 2018 that spinned-off from signature events showcasing an array of international artists. 

A few days ago we reached out to Fred offering our humble Guest MIX space for this month. His receptiveness was immediate and it’s really a pleasure to have him as the host of our 19th feature. Breathing and exhaling the best of jazzy, melodic and groovy house textures, he presents a hour of pure class. The selection is beyond fantastic, approaching the sounds of loads of talented producers that have releasing diamonds to nurture us.

Blur Records is proud to present the uniquely talented DJ and producer - Scruscru - and his excellent EP "Lost Tunes", delivering four original pristine deep house tracks showcasing why he is taking the industry by surprise.

The first track "Dusty Old Stuff", is a masterful colourful hypnotic journey, filled with intricate percussive grooves and a driving chord that gets you going every time you press play.

The second track "Forgotten Banger", works on another level with its quirky groove, loose drums, and evolving chord progression. Slick, captivating and cleverly well accomplished.

The third track "Easy Livin'", starts innocently enough before it evolves into an epic chord-based experience, with a jacking-oriented drum arrangement and floating soundscape jazz pads in the background.

Last but not least we have "Supernova", an instantly recognized super housey composition, with its pacey drums and pounding bass. Destined for peak time, the breakdown is a classic example of quintessential lofi production.

Blur Records returns to present the Canadian prolific DJ and Producer Mathew Ferness and the South African wunderkind G-Nice, who deliver a superb EP entitled "Together Apart" with two distinct, fresh and stunning tracks featuring an exclusive remix of each other's work.

The first track "The Missing Channel" is a patchwork of lofi and melodic moods, bouncing along a rolling bassline and artfully picked chord work, with a pitch-down vocal and filtered FXs bringing it all together.

The second one is the first remix by G-Nice of "The Missing Channel", a remarkable reinterpretation of the original, with its quirky groove, rich drums and evolving textures. Crafty, contagious, exquisitely remixed.

The third one entitled "Let's Fly" is the original creation of G-Nice, a seductively hypnotic driving beat floating with a grinding sub-bass and stripped-back percussion, filled with eccentric strings and complex chords.

To close the release we have the Mathew Ferness remix of "Let's Fly", a rolling and percussive groove machine, with a growling disengaged bassline and infectious melody that while staying faithful to the original, showcases a menacing twist.

RADIO ELECTRONICA was one of the first independent radio programmes to go on air in Jena in 1999. The background was to bring colour into the dreary Thuringian radio programme and to create a platform where regional and national artists from the electronic music scene could present themselves and exchange ideas. RADIO ELECTRONICA claims to be always on the trail of new influences, trends and artists in the field of electronic music.

The show quickly developed from the first pre-productions to a live broadcast, which can be heard every four weeks on Saturdays from 7pm to midnight on the open channel Jena on UKW 103.4 Mhz and via online stream (https://radio-okj.de/wp-content/themes/radiookj/okj-player.html).

With a steadily growing fan base, RADIO ELECTRONICA is still a firm institution in the field of electronic music in Jena and beyond the city limits. Besides the latest scene trends and record presentations, studio guests are a big part of the show.
