Host Ron Dawson takes you on a journey to discover what it means to be a filmmaker. A show unlike any other for the passionate and aspiring filmmaker. Radio Film School is more of an audio documentary than a traditional podcast. Think of it as "This American Life" for filmmakers.

This extended season 1 preview is comprised of clips from the various interviews, roundtable discussions, and film set audio diaries Ron has recorded over the past few months. They will all at some point make their official debut during season 1 of the show. This extended preview will give you a taste for the style and content of the show.

This week we continue our Women in Film series with part 3: "What role do women play in their own hindrance or advancement in the business?"
I honestly believe this is one of the most important episodes I ever have, or will, publish. I strongly feel this episode should be heard by everyone woman in the industry. Heck, I think it would be great for women in any profession to hear from the various guests&nbsp;on the show today. We have a full slate of women at the top of their game in their respective fields.
First, we bring back my 4-person panel in Seattle: Scilla Andreen (CEO of IndieFlix), Stefanie Malone (executive director of NFFTY), Ryan Davis (co-founder of Smarthouse Creative) and Nancy Chang (executive director of ReelGrrls). I also speak to Nichelle Protho, VP of the television and online video production company Sander/Moses; Lauren Haroutunian, dean of Freddie Wong's Rocket Jump Film School; and the director of the interactive documentary "Hollow," and co-host of the She Does Podcast, Elaine McMillion Sheldon.&nbsp;We also hear from Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley and 20th Century Fox co-chairman Stacey Snider, in excerpts from Hollywood Reporter's studio executive roundtable; and Sheryl Sandberg in a clip from the TED Radio Hour has some poignant commentary as well.

The Best of RFS Stories Pt. 2 - GUEST Stories

For the past 10 months, we've explored a theme that is pertinent to all artists. Let's sum this season up and get the definitive answer to this crucial question. If you're any kind of artist, but especially if you're one trying to earn a living at your craft, it's vital to both your creative fulfillment as well as your professional longevity, to find "your voice" and develop a signature style. [Breaking the Glass] BONUS - Calling Bullsh*t

I've had a heavy heart as of late during&nbsp;this U.S. Presidential election. I wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;take some&nbsp;time&nbsp;to share my plea&nbsp;to&nbsp;the leaders in&nbsp;the creative arts community. Last week we had a special post-election "Breaking the Glass" bonus produced and largely recorded by breaking the glass co-producer Yolanda T. Cochran. The episode was bittersweet in that it was written and recorded before the election results, so there was a certain sense of hopefulness in Yolanda’s voice that we were on the verge of having our first woman president. So I recorded an epilogue to her episode to provide context. I also used that epilogue to address what I’ve seen going on in the photography and filmmaking communities. That part of the epilogue is what you’re about to hear. So, if you listened to that entire episode breaking the glass episode, you don’t need to listen to this. But I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings with this industry that has meant so much to me for so long. I think this message is self-explanatory.
