Delta Funktionen / Sterac - ML15 DSR/S80 Sampler (A Side)

2015 looks to be Delta Funktionen’s year. Following the terrifically dark and deep Wasteland series comes "A New Planet". Cruel acid chords and mean percussion piercing through the fog. "A New Planet" is of that same sinister ilk. A cold electro beat is the bedrock from which a corrupting and corrosive 303 coil grows. But even with this caustic foundation, moments of salvation are to be found. A second techno moon dawns midway, frostier percussion giving way to warmer rhythms. Full and flowing bars fall and rise behind the squawk, allowing a new and brighter element to bloom. A track that is at once atmospheric and club centric from an artist at the top of his game.

This will be released as a single sided 12" vinyl with a silkscreen print on the B side.

Delta Funktionen - A New Planet [snippets SSPS2]

Hello children, for this year's excursion we have organised a fantastic trip: a one week journey to The Parallel World! A world where its leaders decided to go back in time rather than moving forward. It will be a mind bending excursion. It will be great. We will ignite the Delta Craft torpedoes next Tuesday 8am sharp and leave one hour later with warp drive towards The Parallel World. We shall experience the power of at least 17 trillion Frisian horses, can you possibly imagine?

Once we have arrived, you can choose from one of these three activities: 

1) Take part in a sting operation where you will be able to sneak into the offices of the corrupted leaders. Detect their intrusions, scams, lies and all other highly dubious activities they’re infamous for. 

2) Participate yourself into these scams and become part of the classified sector. Explore first hand if this line of work applies to your ambitions.

3) For those of you who already gave up on humans, there’s the chance to take care of the last surviving animal; the hyena!

Isn’t it exciting? So kids, take a good rest and prepare yourself for an amazing journey to The Parallel World!

After the analog-retro-MS-Dos spirit of the 2015 Wasteland project, Delta Funktionen returns with a new journey directly forward to - or from - the parallel world!? Presented on 2x12" inches on his own Radio Matrix imprint, it sees Niels Luinenburg handling his trademark techno-electro sound: strong beats combined with futuristic sounds and atmospheres. Whether the beats are broken or straight up four to the floor, the atmosphere always has the vibe of an interstellar journey and a melancholy of longing for better worlds. Where the tracks on the first disc focus on lush melodies on top of rounded grooves, the second disc sees a more rough and somewhat abstract side of Delta Funktionen.

For their next reissue project Delsin turn to this classic from 1992 by Random XS. This pioneering Dutch techno production outfit, with a tight live reputation, was closely aligned to the Saskia Sleger's legendary Djax-Up Beats-label. 

This EP features the original, legendary a-side, which was a hypnotic vocal acid anthem that has become an absolute classic of the genre. In all it lasts well over 12 minutes, but manages to be utterly compelling throughout, always evolving and keeping you locked in. It’s a track that takes influence from the harder Chicago sounds and really sums up the Djax-Up-Beats ethos. It has busy acid lines whipping about the mix as metallic hi-hats dance on top while filtered, haunting vocals take you down the dark rabbit hole.

The original mix is not only skillfully remastered from the original tape, it’s also ‘repaired’. The notorious out-of-sync gap at eight minutes is fixed, enabling long mixes without ‘trainwrecking'.

The b-side has two new remixes from Delta Funktionen and Lost Trax. Label stalwart Delta Funktionen serves up his own interpretation: a futuristic, electro tinged version with crashing hits and one of his famously busy basslines. The anonymous Lost Trax collective - who have released two EPs on Delsin before now - remix it also into a surging, twisted track with flurries of percussion and warped synths all bringing real warehouse energy.
