Maestros Ryan & Mike have devised this ace duo known as ‘Cat Town’ who  showcase some of the illest music that has been brought to our ears.(courtesy of their YouTube channel) Surrounded by all the rich musical history and talent Detroit has to offer, it's what makes this mix all the more special.

The pair's doing splendid things for their local music scene. Respectively, operating a record label, to co-productions, to occasional parties in Detroit feat. the likes of Who Dat, Modern Art, Mark Grusane, and Dez Andres (all project links underneath) 

Definitely look into Mike’s Sector 7G record label, and Ryan’s ‘Symptoms of Love’ project co produced with Ben.C. 

The selection in question though, resonates with us wholly, and will be cherished for a while to come. We hope this mix can help recalibrate your mind/body/soul ;-)

"If the gig is set-up with the music as the main focus (as it should be), then I have total control over the vibe. That's my duty. I'm not worried about having a Hollywood production going on or special effects with video images, smoke, etc. Just playing the best possible music as well as I can. I feel the need to constantly progress skill-wise and I feel my 3 deck sets are truly unique. For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

Come one, come all, or don’t come at all but for those still paying attention, we have another treat for your senses. An aura fortifying frequency courtesy of relatively new Naarm local, DJ Possum aka Jolie. Skip the night out and extend the night in. 

Possum has worked hard to infiltrate the local scene and it’s starting to pay off, her take on all things music is fresh.  you can’t pigeonhole her style or genre. Her ability to play anything from serendipitous street soul to float tank techno is inspiring to say the least. The podcast she did with fellow FHUO hero Myles Mac (MDC #265) is absolute perfection (in my top 10 mixes of last year). I’m really looking forward to seeing where her trajectory takes her. 

Every time I listen to this mix I get this overwhelming sense of a good friend taking you by the hand and guiding you through their own life experiences, scene by scene, song by song.  Every movement has a feeling attached. A much needed reminder to feel all that you can, healing the weird emotional callus built up over the last two years. A guided tour at the perfect altitude, weaving in and out of atmospheric pressure systems, a trip truly worth taking as many times as possible.

“There are a few elements floating here.. the mix is composed mostly of psychedelic electronica sounds mostly from the the 70's, 80's & 90's of musicians and composers that I think are sublime. 

In sound aesthetics, nothing can top this sound for me. It's so touching, it forces you to go inside, it forces you to feel small in space, kinda like space dust, and to me this is the true definition of freedom. At times gravity pulls you down from space into your gene pool, your body. 

On a parallel path to this idea, I made this mix thinking about my mom and dad because it is truly an offer to them for my upbringing. They made what was truly a war zone into a magical place, taking us four kids out of the concrete jungle and giving us instead the sky and nature, recalibrating us. My dad was a star gazer and I watched the stars with him at nights until he passed away when I was 11. My mom is my spirit animal, a true contemporary philosopher. They both live in this mix because I connected them once again here.”

Exponent of a sound both intrinsically rugged yet layered to mind-altering effect, the British producer has been dishing out unstoppable slices of hi-velocity techno laced with a signature stripped-back, psychedelic edge. This new RYC podcast doesn’t veer off from such a direction and we’re graced with a two-hour mind trip boasting both bass-driven warehouse impact and an elegantly-woven tapestry of abrasive grooves, leaning by turn towards atmospheric elation and on other occasions pushing in the direction of utter fibrous, steel-coated industrial pound.
